In this particular case, given that the light is motion-activated, would it not be advantageous to allow the light-induced trigger given there is motion and hence it presumably warrants recording?

Starting ZM with an externally-connected button/switch?
Given my daily routines varies so much I cannot currently use crontabs to satisfactorily manage the starting/stopping of my ZM installation. Hence as things stand I have a simple start/stop script on my desktop which I use to start/stop ZM when I leave/return-to the house. It works okay - for me at ...

I like the sound of this as I too occasionally access ZM via my PDA. Currently I'm rotating the screen every time but to not have to would obviously be a bonus. I'm completely ignorant when it comes to patching so could you briefly summarise what I have to do to implement this? Also, can you confirm...

I've just replied to your PM but see you're now sorted! Anyway, just to add a few more things for anyone else that might be interested: The path can also be set to /nphmotiongjpeg?Res... etc to capture images as an MJPEG stream. I capture at around 3fps and found that snapshotjpeg used less network ...

Good point! Hadn't occured to me the OP may not necessarily be in the UK! However, I'd assumed they were given they were only recently talking about buying some fancy cameras from Gadget Spot (UK store). Incidentally, I wasn't flaming the poster (that'd be shooting the messenger), just saying that w...

Re: CCTV Benefits ?
As expected all you have to be aware of if that you can only record images of your property, and not public places, plus exhibiting a sign that shows CCTV cameras are in use for security and crime prevention. They really need to check their facts before giving such broadbrush advice. You should ask...
