Zoneminder uses alot of open files when it's using mapped memory. Linux has a set limit of how many files that can be opened at the same time. You can see the current limit: cat /proc/sys/fs/file-max To change the max, you can edit the /etc/sysctl.conf. So for example, your current max is at 5000 an...

I have a PV-155 attached to 9 cameras. With V4L_MULTI_BUFFER off and CAPTURES_PER_FRAME set to 2, I get ~2.5 fps on cameras that are sharing a capture chip with another camera and ~1.6fps on cameras sharing a capture chip with 2 other cameras. This is without the random interlacing issue. The issue ...

You can take a look at the IP cameras in bullet form factor that Bluecherry sells:
http://store.bluecherry.net/category_s/91.htm
There should be a few on that page that support Zoneminder, PoE and are weatherproof.

I just realized I overlooked something. The eventId will be different in the master's database and on the mounted event folders pointing to the slave's event folders. There will be need for customizing the Zoneminder master to have another database table that maps the eventid's in the database and t...

Your idea sounds good. Keep us updated with your progress. My customized idea was very wordy in the previous post. Let me summarize here: * Slaves are normal Zoneminder installations. * Master customized to only allowed to put monitors on monitor mode. * Master adds slave monitors as remote monitors...

Have you tried taking out your old card and put in you new card to test the new card is working? Try the new card first without any modprobe options. It should show up under dmesg even if you don't have the options set. Once you verify the new card is working, put other other card back in and call d...

There could be a number of causes, two I can think of are: Possible cause: Motion Detection Analysis taking too long. Ways to detect: Check how busy your CPU is. Solutions: -Reducing load on the ZM box in general. -Increase the ZM audit time interval (AUDIT_CHECK_INTERVAL). -Reducing the motion dete...
