I had the same issues with my 16 port, 4 chip BTTV card as well. I was using RGB24 when I was having the problem. When I switched to RGB555, the lines went away.

Try using some other capture pallets that give a clear picture and see if you continue to have those lines.

It depends on what you plan to do with zoneminder?
  • * How many cameras?
    * What type of cameras? (analog CCTV or IP cameras)
    * What capture size? (320x240, 640x480, or higher)
    * Do you plan to use Zonemindersmotion detection on some or all of the cameras?
    * What frame rates do you plan to record at?

I increasing the file max to double the size of your current amount. So if "cat /proc/sys/fs/file-max" returns n Set the max to 2n If the /etc/sysctl.conf file doesn't exist go ahead and create one. I should have mentioned that you'll only need to run sysctl -p just to make the new setting...

I know webcamXP works with Zoneminder. You can download that and see if webcamXP picks up video from your capture card like it does from a USB webcam.

Zoneminder uses alot of open files when it's using mapped memory. Linux has a set limit of how many files that can be opened at the same time. You can see the current limit: cat /proc/sys/fs/file-max To change the max, you can edit the /etc/sysctl.conf. So for example, your current max is at 5000 an...

Then it certainly sounds like an issue with Ubuntu 10.10.

Hopefully this is an Ubuntu thing and not a mainline Linux issue that will eventually creep into other distributions.

I have a PV-155 attached to 9 cameras. With V4L_MULTI_BUFFER off and CAPTURES_PER_FRAME set to 2, I get ~2.5 fps on cameras that are sharing a capture chip with another camera and ~1.6fps on cameras sharing a capture chip with 2 other cameras. This is without the random interlacing issue. The issue ...

You can take a look at the IP cameras in bullet form factor that Bluecherry sells:

http://store.bluecherry.net/category_s/91.htm

There should be a few on that page that support Zoneminder, PoE and are weatherproof.

I just realized I overlooked something. The eventId will be different in the master's database and on the mounted event folders pointing to the slave's event folders. There will be need for customizing the Zoneminder master to have another database table that maps the eventid's in the database and t...

Your idea sounds good. Keep us updated with your progress. My customized idea was very wordy in the previous post. Let me summarize here: * Slaves are normal Zoneminder installations. * Master customized to only allowed to put monitors on monitor mode. * Master adds slave monitors as remote monitors...

One zero customization way would be to: - Move all the storage to the master. - Have all the slaves only monitor and not record. - Have the master use all the monitors on the slaves as a remote monitor (a url like http://<slave>/cgi-bin/zms?mode=jpeg&monitor=<slave>) This however won't provide a...

To make sure your new card isn't faulty, I'd take out the old card and try to get things to work with your new card first.

Since dmesg seems to only detect one bttv card, it looks like your new card isn't working or you have an IRQ problem,

Have you tried taking out your old card and put in you new card to test the new card is working? Try the new card first without any modprobe options. It should show up under dmesg even if you don't have the options set. Once you verify the new card is working, put other other card back in and call d...

There could be a number of causes, two I can think of are: Possible cause: Motion Detection Analysis taking too long. Ways to detect: Check how busy your CPU is. Solutions: -Reducing load on the ZM box in general. -Increase the ZM audit time interval (AUDIT_CHECK_INTERVAL). -Reducing the motion dete...
