Re: ZM with Open ALPR
Ah, now that works better -- you've made it look like Magic919 missed off an htm *L* in cut-and-pasting and didn't preview it to check it worked

Re: configuring hostname in hikvision camera for use by rtsp
At the simplest, you can add a line to your ZM machine's /etc/hosts file to manually assign a hostname :- 192.168.0.50 cam01 Which will mean ZM will be able to call for "cam01" and resolve it to 192.168.0.50 -- this will only work for the machine that you make this edit on. If you have a m...

Re: Camera backdoor
how about setting up an NPT source on your server as that has external access and then you don't need the cameras to talk out Well that's how mine works and there is a total block on all camera IP's from getting out Note that you may need to do a little more work here -- I had the same config as ab...

Re: Failed permissions using Systemd mount with CIFS
I have a TrueNAS NAS. I can offer it up as a CIFS or NFS. I used CIFS because I knew sharing better and there was an example in the wiki, but I'd go for NFS if that solves it. Do you know of a good example of a Free(True)NAS systemd example for zoneminder I might check out? I get hung up on the opt...

Re: Failed permissions using Systemd mount with CIFS
Although you don't mention the filesystem in use, CIFS/SMB mounts usually imply that your filesystem in the NAS is something like FAT32. If so, there is no proper concept of "permissions" and "users", which causes all sorts of problems. Nor does it understand symbolic links, whic...

Re: SOLVED: many hanging zmu processes are not exiting, process leak
(maybe the camera started to behave wrong because of never terminated connections from Zoneminder to them?!). That is entirely possible -- some camera's firmware isn't tested to cover all sorts of weird conditions. You could have found a "denial of service" bug there, in the camera, in th...

Re: TrueNAS Jail v1.34.21 - slow event deletion
In the filter settings: Have you accidentally ticked the "Only process [X] events" option to limit the number of events processed/deleted to *1* each time it runs? :) What happens if you manually try and delete a single event from the drive (find the enclosing directory that has you .mp4 o...

Re: Install on a virtual server in internet?
Back of envelope ... Let's assume 300W power supply actually consuming 300W 24 hrs x 7 days x 52 weeks = 8736 hours. That's 300 x 8736 Wh (2620 KWh, aka units) Here (UK) a unit costs me about £0.16 so that would be £419 (approx 489 Euro) So it's possible a significant chunk, maybe most, of that ener...

Re: Connecting zoneminder to Swann DVR8-3425 Media Port
Thank you so much... I changed the port, went back and made sure I had the correct spaces in the scripts. I can finally see call my cameras in ZM. :D Thank you for not giving up on the post when I actually was close to doing so. Learnt so much in short time with your responses. Excellent news! Just...

Re: Connecting zoneminder to Swann DVR8-3425 Media Port
I assume you mean "1" was the output from zmodopipe. That's not so useful then, I was hoping for more :) The ffserver log shows ffserver didn't start. I'm guessing that use of ffserver in this endeavour is NOT optional, which is why it's there. /etc/ffserver2.conf:1: Port option is depreca...

Re: Connecting zoneminder to Swann DVR8-3425 Media Port
You may well have some error messages that you can't see. I don't know anything about zmodopipe, but :- ./zmodopipe -s 192.168.86.4 -p 18004 -c 1 -u TESTER-a 1234-m 1 > /dev/null 2>&1 & ffserver -f /etc/ffserver2.conf > /tmp/ffserver.log 2>&1 & The first command may well spit out som...
