1.24.2, Ubuntu 9.10, open zma/zmc processes

I'm trying to do some testing of various things to speed up capture on my machine, which involves shutting down ZM periodically. I've been using " sudo zmpkg.pl stop" yet there often seem to be things left running. It's been about an hour, so none of these should still be recording any eve...

So, somewhere in the upgrade from Ubuntu 8.0.4 and Zoneminder 1.24.1 to U-9.10 and ZM 1.24.2, something whined at me about wanting libjpeg version 7, so I went ahead and used it. My system load was horrible, so I dropped the venerable old SIMD files on top of them, and now I'm back to a usable machi...

Has anyone tried this with a more recent version, say 1.24.2? Also, I found 1.24.2 wouldn't complile with libjpeg6, had to bump it up to 7. Theoretically I installed the intel compiler, but compliation's not my strong point. Do I need to rerun configure? The instructions in the post seemed to indica...

Core 2 Quad, 2.4ghz, 8 gigs of ram, 11 terabytes of drives.

26 on my 1.24.1 install, perhaps a version upgrade might help you, wouldn't be surprised if it was fixed by then. Meanwhile, if you've got a desktop on it, install the mysql gui tools, "MySQL Administrator" will let you edit the tables without speaking SQL. (though learning SQL's a good th...

I have 24 on one of my servers, soon to be 36 or so, using 1.24.1, so I'd vote no on the "limit of 12". What do you mean by not being able to see them? Are they listed but red? If that's the case, try increasing your shmax value, if you search the forum you'll find a bajillion posts relati...

You can also have the cron job run on the camera itself (they run linux), which is handy if it's not talking to the network. http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=43664#43664 That trick worked out fairly well, though I eventually gave up on wireless due to the ridiculous amount of other p...

Sure, now you tell me, after I wired half my 207W's. :)

Though actually, I think in my case it's just too noisy.

There is a front-end (http://ipaddress/zm), it just may not be as friendly as some people would like it. If that's what you're referring to, I'd say the developer doesn't have time to rebuild the interface, and spends his available zoneminder (not ft job) time working on functionality & such. Th...

If that doesn't work, I wouldn't be surprised to find out it's a wireless issue. Any chance you can plug that cam in for a few days and see if it still experiences the same issues?

Ditto for me, though I hadn't tried it on 1.23.x, only 1.24.x. Tried turning it on to speed the system which had started to choke when I added too many megapixel cameras, and ended up with the same incomplete frame errors the above two have mentioned.

Haven't tried the other two, but haven't heard anything good about linksys cameras, or much good about trendnet cameras. Axis, on the other hand, pretty much always works, regardless of browser/system type, and definitely works with ZoneMinder.

Your mileage may vary.

Amusingly, on one of my installations, they've twice taken the camera mounted above the DVR and the one on the office door, yet left the DVR itself. Criminal intelligence apparently varies from location to location.

You could setup a 5th box with all the zm streams as remote cameras, set to monitor. There'd obviously be a time delay with playback, depending on the speed of your 4 remote machines. This only helps with live access, not events, unless you have the drive space on the 5th machine to record instead o...
