Re: Cams in different networks

I now class this as resolved anyway and thanks for all your help. It was just having a problem as it was on the same network unable to loopback, but now as i have installed another ZM server on another network, it does work. It probably won't work from the same network using the outside IP unless y...

Re: Linux Mint MATE I'm a noob and need help

Zoneminder isn't an application. It is software served through Apache web server. Think of it as a service, not an application.
Read this thread to get you going.

Re: How do I start ZM?

Are your cameras USB cameras? If so, you can use the command "lsusb" to list your USB devices in the system. Do all your cameras show up in the list? Open Cheese and see if you can view all 4 cameras in it. If you can view them there, it is a good sign that they system sees them. I have no...

Re: How do I start ZM?

My video capture card is a cheap one with a single device and 4 channels. It appears you might have a higher line card that identifies as 4 devices.

Have you tried using channel 0 on all four cameras instead of 0,1,2,3?

Re: How do I start ZM?

What brand and model of video capture card did you put in the computer? I'm using a PV143 4 channel card from Bluecherry. The working setup for mine is: Camera1----DEVICE PATH---/dev/video0----------------------DEVICE CHANNEL---0 Camera2----DEVICE PATH---/dev/video0----------------------DEVICE CHANN...

Re: How do I start ZM?

It's working now... BUT... In SOURCE/DEVICE PATH I have put /dev/video0 (0-3 for each webcam and in SOURCE/DEVICE CHANNEL I have put the corresponding value of 0 - 3 for the respective webcam. Do I understand correctly that in the Device Path you have /dev/video0 and a number for the camera? If so,...

Re: How do I start ZM?

Did you follow the instructions in the link I provided to create the links between Zoneminder and Apache? Some of that allows Apache to know where Zoneminder is and how to serve it for you.

Re: How do I start ZM?

Open Firefox or whatever browser you have and type in 127.0.0.1 . If you get nothing here, you don't have Apache running. If you get Apache at 127.0.0.1, then try 127.0.0.1/zm. That should load the Zomeminder index page. The page I linked to has instructions on how to navigate through some of this s...

Re: How do I start ZM?

Depending on how complete that install is (mysql, apache, zoneminder, etc.) you might already have it running. Read some of this about setting it up in Ubuntu. Your installation will have some differences and some similarities. https://bkjaya.wordpress.com/2014/04/27/how-to-install-zoneminder-in-ubu...

Re: Defender PRO 600TVL cams

I didn't buy a DVR system as I run only Linux here and every DVR system I looked at did not support Linux. Instead, I took one of my old computers, installed a video capture card in it, and installed Zoneminder. Now I have a security system that fully supports Linux, Windows, Mac, and any other oper...

Re: Defender PRO 600TVL cams

How do you view the DVR output on Windows? Did you have to install proprietary software to do it? If you installed some proprietary Windows software as a DVR viewer, you need to research what format the DVR is outputting the data to that software. if it is some kind of standard format, then you can ...

Re: Defender PRO 600TVL cams

You simply need to get your DVR exporting the security system as a standard HTML server like Zoneminder does and there is no need to run the Zoneminder server when all you need is a client.

Re: Defender PRO 600TVL cams

I have no idea what brand or model of DVR you have, but as long as it has conforms to basic standards, you should be able to view it on your network using any browser like Firefox. If you happen to have a DVR that is Windows proprietary, you are probably out of luck. Zoneminder is software that repl...

Re: Can't Login

It should delete old files when it reaches your 95% full mark. Make sure you have selected "delete all matches" in your filter. I have mine set to 80%, but don't know if it works because I also have a second filter to delete anything over 30 days old, so I have never reached the 80% full m...

Re: Defender PRO 600TVL cams

Analog cameras basically will all work as long as you have a supported video capture card and you have configured correct settings for the card to be recognized. As already mentioned, what model of capture card are you using? Post that information here, and if it is supported, post up your configura...
