To test whether or not the problem is caused by your machine running too slow, increase WEB_H_AJAX_TIMEOUT under options to something very large like 20 seconds then see what happens.

If a table hangs at "Loading please wait..." then the Ajax call to retrieve the data from the database is failing. Look in your browser log for clues.
Also, clear your browser cache.
