I am not sure anymore that the problem has to do with the curl problem I kept wrestling with before.

I got rid of the problem by re-entering the rpm repositories again manually. Might as well be that the original repositories are really temporarily messed up.

The gui package manager (rpmdrake) will ask if you want to install anyway. Yes, it does, but that fails too with a curl -9 error... Thank you for your advice. I ended into dependency problems. Missing perl modules. Perl-x10 for example. I think it will be easier to upgrade the whole OS and use then Ross's RPM's for upgrade?
