Re: Camera security question
I know that for many, my solution is not feasible, but I run numerous VLANs at my home. I have my primary LAN, that I run all of my computers and file sharing on. I also have a VLAN for guests, a VLAN for IoT devices, a VLAN for several web servers, and a VLAN for cameras. With the exception of the...

Re: 1000 errors in apache access log
They are not errors. If you look part way down the log line, you'll see a "200" which is "OK"! Return/status codes for HTTP and Email handling follow a similar pattern, the first digit is the CLASS of response (Informational, Success, Temporary Failure, Permanent Failure) ... see...

Re: Cannot write to event folder
folder sdb1/zoneminder/events Should probably be / sdb1/zoneminder/events Should the be 'sdb1/zoneminder/events' or 'var/cache/zoneminder/events'? Again, note the example says / full path to ... and not full/path/to ... Those leading slashes are important, otherwise ZM will be looking for a directo...

Re: Find Events that happen overnight
I'm trying to build a background filter that catches small events overnight such as camera IR and lighting changes that get around my preclusive filters, but I can't work out how to find events within a time period of (for example) 9PM and 5AM, across all days. Setting a Start Time >= 21:00:00 and ...

Re: Staic IP vs DHCP
Depends ... if you set up zoneminder with the camera as "192.168.X.Y" -- an IP address, and it gets issued a new address (for any reason, DHCP whim, power cut etc.) then Zoneminder will lose the camera, because it's not longer there. Three solutions: 1) Static IP (tell the camera to use st...

Re: Camera resolution issue Ubuntu 22.04
I have one 5mp camera that would not start ZM 1.36.29. The camera resolution was set to 1944x2592 which is 5mp sideways. Changing the ZM camera resolution to 2592x1944 and changing the camera configuration to be flipped 180 degrees and mirrored fixed the problem. This is an Amcrest IP5M-T1179E. I d...

Re: HW crisis after upgrade to ZM 1.36.xxxx
Things get worse after my first post. I replace my memory from 12GB to 16GB and run for a whole night. The memory usage from 7GB (start service) and now is 12GB used + some 3G buffering/caching and only leave 700MB free . Definitely something wrong with new version of serious memory leaks. Any good...

Re: ZoneMinder configuration file found but is not readable.
Post the result of ls -lah /etc/zoneminder/zm.conf Because 0640 is the permissions, but says nothing about ownership. On my setup this file is owned by apache.apache, as it's required for the webserver to read it, not zoneminder. -rw------- 1 apache apache 1.4K Feb 9 2013 /usr/local/etc/zm.conf Post...

Re: Encrypted storing video while recording
ZM does not have the required code for this type of action. Then only the last videoclip that is still recording would potentially be missing from harddrive when removed while running, theoretically. They would also be encrypted, impossible to delete? I use LUKS and LVM under Linux. It would not oc...

Re: ESP32-CAM format
Update :- I'm using ZM 1.ancient -- and I set up :- Source Type "Remote" Protocol "HTTP/Simple" And it just worked. Now, at some point no doubt "Remote" is deprecated and using FFMPEG etc. is the way to go. However -- I just looked at my old scripts for capturing from t...

Re: Doorbell Camera
The only thing I would like to have that I can’t seem to do with the hikvision app is to set a time server, there is only a preset list of time servers available. You may be able to fake the camera out, if it has a list of hostnames/domains (not baked in IP addresses), you could spoof this in your ...

Re: Two C615 Portable HD Webcam - Only the 1st plugin works
I'm not sure why you're getting two devices per camera. That's not something I've seen before (and can only assume is either a bug, or a feature to allow two different uses of the same hardware at once). Like some IP cameras have a high-res URL, a low-res URL, a "just a JPG" URL ... all wo...

Re: Two C615 Portable HD Webcam - Only the 1st plugin works
As above. So, using "ls -l /dev/video*" :- With NO USB cameras connected, just the builtin webcam, how many /dev/video* devices do you have? Plug in one USB camera only. Wait a few seconds. How many now? Plug in second camera, wait, how many now? I'd expect to see the builtin as sole /dev/...
