Re: Debian packages

http://www.deb-multimedia.org has 1.30.2.

If you are not familiar with deb-multimedia. org, which is not officially sanctioned by Debian, please read https://wiki.debian.org/DebianMultimedia/FAQ before using.

Re: Camera SV3C in Zoneminder

I used fixed IP and no authentication (cams can't reach Internet) so, rtsp://192.168.x.xx/11. Source Type set to Ffmpeg. Remote Method set to RTP/RTSP. Cam throttled to 5 fps at the cam . Maximum FPS set to 7 fps. That particular cam is out of service at the moment pending relocation, but I had no s...

Re: Camera help

Take a look at the SV3C Full HD 1080P Bullet Outdoor Security Camera, model number SV-B01-1080-POE. It is currently USD $46 at Amazon. In my opinion, it is a real bargain and works well with ZoneMinder. POE or use the included wall wart. One niggle, there is no option to turn off the IR LEDs if you ...

Re: Help: Connecing IP cameras directly to computer vis ethernet

Just wondering if you have checked your attic temperatures. It depends where you live of course, but in my experience attic temperatures can exceed 140 F in North America, for example. Even well insulated attics with radiant barrier sheathing can easily hit 120F in the summer. Higher in the South or...

Re: New User, New Installation, And Of Course, Problems

I did not use the term solution. Please do not imply that I did so. I posted what I found so that others who ran into the same problem would have the information.

Re: New User, New Installation, And Of Course, Problems

I have traced and verified why Zone Minder can't write to /tmp/zm. It is because the apache2 service file, /lib/systemd/system/apache2.service contains the entry PrivateTmp=true under [Service]. Setting the entry to PrivateTmp=false allows Zone Minder to use /tmp/zm. No other changes were needed. I ...

Interesting. The owner of /tmp/zm is www-data.

Re: New User, New Installation, And Of Course, Problems

One hour after I wrote the above, I started seeing dropped packets, no idea why. I went back to Ffmpeg and the problem went away. Eleven plus hours and nary a hiccup.

Re: New User, New Installation, And Of Course, Problems

Thanks for the reply. The zm directory does exist, but for some reason ZoneMinder can't find it. I'll have switched to /dev/shm and the alarms have stopped. The camera is set to 5 FPS and is honoring it. I have switched to Remote mode. It is working, but I see no difference in picture quality over F...

New User, New Installation, And Of Course, Problems

Hi, complete ZoneMinder Novice here. I have just installed ZoneMinder v1.30.2 on a Debian machine using the Debian repo packages. I then set it up following the instructions at https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Debian_9_64-bit_with_Zoneminder_1.30.0_the_Easy_Way . I have one monitor defined, a WansView W2...
