Sorry if i am missing smth, but isnt the idea of filters, to have the system do things for you, without your continuous monitoring/administering? Yes, that is the purpose of setting fitlers to run in the background. The question is, and that goes to all ZM developers/users: Does foreground filter e...

This is the way I understand it, just to clarify things: 'Background filters' are checked every ZM_FILTER_EXECUTE_INTERVAL seconds (as you've found). If the background status for any particular filter is removed (to make it 'foreground' as you've termed it) then these filters now require manual inte...

Hi achix, I do something similiar, albeit not quite as advanced as what you're striving for, utilising SMS text notifications in response to certaing alarm events (e.g. motion >30seconds). The SMS extracts various bits of info from the database such as the monitor name, alarm duration, incident time...

There are a few ZM installs wide open on the 'net - here's one I found with Google:

Needless to say I take no responsibility for what you might see!

I'll take the easy question...

The different colour is down to the different permissions - check the output of ls -l and you'll soon see how they differ.

Over to someone else for the real question! (I'm not familiar with RH service control)

In case it's of any help, have a look at http://bttv-gallery.de/ (warning: it's a big page!) to see if you can identify your card(s). Try searching with sub-strings of the info you have although bear in mind that subtle changes can be made between card chipsets yet they may still work with the same ...

Gulp! I'd just started to pen a response saying I was completely lost (more lost than before!) reading that but I figured I should at least try and work out how this MySQL stuff works from that example. And I'm glad I did... because I think I've gone from knowing nothing to knowing a-bit-mor...

Querying the SQL database from a script to add info to SMS?

Hi, I have a filter set to execute a script for any events longer than 30 seconds - the script sends me an SMS (using MercurySMS via the VGS gateway) with the basic info it is passed (ID/Event, although I convert the ID into a meaningful name in the script) and the current time (which for all intent...

If SMS alerts are of interest to anyone, and Internet access is available, I can recommend the MercurySMS tool (http://www.mercury.uk.net/mercurysms/) in conjunction with one of the many web-based gateways. I personally use the VGSMail gateway (http://www.vgsmail.com/) which costs 6.6p/message and p...

I don't think you can, at least not without having turned ZM_CREATE_ANALYSIS_IMAGES off in the first instance.

I suppose you could view the captured image directly in the browser with the URL /events/1/14555/010-capture.jpg, for example but I'm sure this is probably far from your ideal.

Hmmm.... Haven't had the backtrace issues for a couple of days now yet one camera is running on nphmotionjpeg. Dammit. Should be happy if the issue has gone (perhaps it was my fault e.g. not fully restarting the service(s) etc) but there's always that nagging feeling that it's just hiding, perhaps w...

Sure, that shouldn't be a problem - just let me know.

Thanks Cordel for your help, it's much appreciated.

Alright, I assume that you have restarted the zm services after all these changes are done... correct me if I am mistaken. Hmm... It's so tempting to just say 'yes, of course' but hand on heart I must admit that I often forget to restart particularly as many settings appear happy to take immediate ...

I've been able to reproduce this error (or at least zmc failures as per the OP) so hopefully the following may be of some use... (please shout for more info if/as required) My setup consists of a single USB camera (Philips PCVC680K) and two IP cameras (Panasonic BL-C1's) all running at 3fps. Over th...
