Force an "event" when a camera disconnects.

In previous versions, when a camera lost connectivity, it was recorded as an event. This also had the unfortunate side-effect of pegging out the CPU until the camera re-connected. I'm wondering if there's a way to force this behavior in 1.32 without the CPU going ballistic. Currently, when a cam goe...

Re: 1.32 on the ppa

@iconnor: The -master ppa doesn't seem to properly set ownership of the config files when upgrading from 1.30.4 to 1.32.0. After upgrade, ZM just throws errors, and the old monitors disappear. chown -R root:www-data /etc/zm fixes the problem. Just FYI. I'm eagerly awaiting the 1.32.1 release to be s...

iconnor ppa and upgrading from 1.30.4

After upgrading from 1.30.4, to 1.32.x from the iconnor ppa, ZM refuses to run. I'm not certain whether it's the fault of ZM, or the install scripts being run by the ppa, but the fix is easy... After the upgrade, simply sudo chown -R root:www-data /etc/zm/* After that, ONVIF probing, and the monitor...

Feature Request

For the next iteration, it would be nice if "Montage" worked similarly to "Montage Review", where all the cam streams are concatenated into one stream in order to get around some browsers' inability to stream more than six streams at a time. Keeping the layouts (2-wide, 3-wide, grid/enlarge on alarm...

Re: 4K resolution doesn't work. Other resolutions work fine.

Usually, when that happens, it's because the computer ZM is running on is either too low on RAM or has too little CPU to process that much data. Try increasing one or both.

Re: Montage not showing all cams.

Ah.. Apparently three or more years ago it was pointed out (and I had forgotten about this!) that Chrome is hard-coded to limit six connections, and this explains why I can only view six cams at a time in Chrome. It also appears that several work-arounds and/or fixes for this were suggested, but no ...

Negative. Chrome on Linux, though I'll look and see if there's anything that crosses over.

Montage not showing all cams.

Something that has never worked on my installation, but is now becoming a problem: on Montage, only the first six monitors show video. Any monitors after #6 have an "fps -" marker, but their video is not shown. This occurs whether I'm on on a machine on the local LAN or on the server running ZM itse...

Re: SOLVED: Zoneminder causes Ventech cameras to reboot randomly

You are getting some headers in there (Date: ... Session: ...) by the look of it. Anyone else got a clue where they are coming from :) These cameras are cheapos that are intended by Ventech to be used on their DVR/NVR... they're not "generic" cams... The data I'd converted before (it wasn't the set...

Re: SOLVED: Zoneminder causes Ventech cameras to reboot randomly

Interesting... because I've got all motion detection turned off in the cameras' firmware. That was part of my testing for a solution before coming upon this fix. At least it's SUPPOSED to be off; one of my complaints about these Ventech cams is that many times the settings don't "take" - they'll sho...

Re: SOLVED: Zoneminder causes Ventech cameras to reboot randomly

The irony is that the Remote RTSP method makes functions call to the ffmpeg API. Someday the Remote -> RTSP method may go away so a better long term solution would be to investigate why the ffmpeg method isn't working as it should. In the grand scheme of sheer number of cameras, the ffmpeg source t...

Re: SOLVED: Zoneminder causes Ventech cameras to reboot randomly

Interesting conclusions. Bur usually ffmpeg RTSP running TCP 32 bit colour works better with modern cameras than the ancient remote. You should turn down the frame rate and key frame interval as well as resolution. In no case will the Ventech cameras stay stable if using the ffmpeg method. I have t...

Re: Zoneminder causes cameras to reboot randomly

I solved this last night and this morning, actually... In order to get these cameras to work properly, I had to do a few things to the cameras themselves, the OS, and ZoneMinder. First, Ubuntu currently uses version 2.8.x of ffmpeg (video/audio decoding libraries). For the Ventech cameras to work, v...

SOLVED: Zoneminder causes Ventech cameras to reboot randomly

I've been beating my head against the keyboard on this one for a bit over a month... I'm missing something, so I'm coming here to ask for advice. I've got four Ventech IP-PoE cameras that work great, stay running, and give great pictures.... that is, they do all of this up until the moment I start Z...
