Re: zmtrigger.pl doesn't seem to do anything

If I connect via telnet to 6802 (via localhost) it seems to connect. I entered Purchasing|on+5|1|test|test|test and nothing was recorded. Purchasing is the name of the camera in question. You enter the monitor ID, not its name. If purchasing is monitor number 5 you put 5. Some of the later fields a...

Re: Camera Brands/Models That Can Disable IR LEDs

Some cameras require external IR illuminators. LEDs are not included at all. Axis comes to mind. I'm sure there are others.

Re: SSMTP not sending email, no log line

I don't see any logging about ssmtp or sending mail. I've tailed syslog and debug log. Should there be a zmfilter.log file in the /var/log/zm folder? Because that doesn't exist in my setup. Yes, there should be a zmfilter.log. And the LOG_DEBUG_FILE should have your output as well. Maybe it's somet...

Re: SSMTP not sending email, no log line

I've written a bit on this on the wiki. Did you look at this? https://wiki.zoneminder.com/SMS_Notifications The existing wiki guides cover SMTP setup well. At least for Devuan / Debian Jessie and Ubuntu 14.04. Specifically, you should be following the "How to get ssmtp working with Zoneminder" wiki ...

Re: how do you digitally capture AnalogHD (ie 720p) cameras?

What I can't figure out is how would I connect one of those cameras to a computer, such as for use with zoneminder, let alone any other capture or security system? Typically analog or HD analog cameras connect via coaxial cable to a video encoder box. That encoder box will record by itself. It will...

Re: MySQL server has gone away error with ZMTrigger

I looked again. Some slight changes to what I originally said. ZMTrigger will reload (keep alive) the monitors every five minutes, which keeps the default wait timeout of eight hours from being invoked. That is, if you set wait_timeout to anything equal or lower to 300, then ZMTrigger will disconnec...

MySQL server has gone away error with ZMTrigger

I had used mysqltuner on my DB and one of the recommendations it made ( wait_timeout ) conflicted with zmtrigger causing it to drop out every five minutes. The solution is to remove wait_timeout, and return to the mysql default of eight hours. See also: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/ZMTrigger#MySQL_se...

Re: Flickering & Random colour changes at night

I have two of a similar model. Bought a third but it was DOA. These are cheap cameras. No flickering problems. I can't vouch for the longevity of these cameras, but they are cheap, and support openwrt. Either get a different camera, or try a different type of stream, RTSP, JPG, or MJPG, from what yo...

HD Analog Cameras, HD-TVI, HD-SDI, AHD

Anyone have experience with HD Analog Camera technologies? The general consensus here is to ignore or rip out coaxial, and install new IP cameras. While I agree that ethernet is the best, existing cctv installs might have hundreds of feet of coaxial run. It's crazy to only run new ethernet. There's ...

Re: Wire Once: Today Analog Video - Tommorro IP Camera

Be careful purchasing these baluns. Test them. I've been witness to cheap ones that easily disconnect when moved. Also consider upgrading an analog coaxial network to HD analog. If a lot of Coaxial has already been run, it might not be practical to replace or run new ethernet to those locations. Ins...

Cannot open Wiki's login page

I am unable to access the login page of the wiki. I've tried on a number of browsers and different machines, so I don't think it is on my end. In the last month only one user (maybe he has cookies saved) has made any edits. It's been like this since, or shortly after the mediawiki upgrade in May. Lo...

Re: How to restart ZM service in response to camera dead?

I had a similar issue. Changing the zmwatch timeout (options - config) from the default of 10 seconds to a higher number, say 30 or 60 fixed most of my dropout issues. If the cameras still drop out after that, you can monitor the zmwatch.pl watchdog script by either putting it in debug log mode or a...

Re: Foscam cameras security....

There is no reason to single out Foscam. All companies that make low cost chinese ip cameras are notorious for bad security. If the camera isn't made by an expensive established brand name like Axis then assume that the camera is vulnerable to cracking into. You get what you pay for. If you keep the...

Re: Flickering & Random colour changes at night

I might be wrong, but I think this is due to the camera outputting something in the stream that ZM doesn't like. I've seen broken streams with an areconte vision when and only when its binning mode is enabled. Try a different camera, or try tweaking the settings of the camera. Remove any proprietary...

Re: Hikvision Camera

I've seen a camera say one resolution on its web portal, but have another resolution on the stream. You should use the resolution that VLC or the web browser uses. Is there anything in the logs about connecting? Try a different camera? Is there a user manual for the camera? Have you tried the paths ...
