Time gap occurring when alarm triggers...

After doing all of those performance tests and leaving things where performance was best for the CPU, I'm noticing time gaps right around when a zone is triggered: https://www.youtube.com/embed/FeMCb-OZ2OA?vq=hd1080&autoplay=1 Here's a screen capture of motion through that same camera -- I was recor...

Re: 32-bit color vs 24-bit color test results...

32bit colorspace allows zoneminder to use use bit shifting, rather than division, on certain jpeg manipulations. This is where the performance boost comes from. This also depends on what kind of cameras you are using and how they are programmed in zoneminder. Knnniggett, For some of the tests, 24-b...

Re: Day/night detection...

Cristo, I think a more efficient method of detecting Blue Mute would be to get the current FPS of the monitor -- I've noticed that when a monitor is blue muted, the FPS increases tremendously. A check for FPS > 40 should work nicely. I'm just not sure how to get ZM to report the real-time FPS of the...

Re: New camera, compression artifacts through ZM...

The 32bit colourspace helps motion detection I followed the links and found the post about SSE2. Has this been verified with today's processors? I've been researching this and it looks like the alignment requirements of SSE2 are all but gone, starting with the SandyBridge Intel processors (circa 20...

Day/night detection...

So I've been using cron jobs to change from day to night mode in ZM. This works well up to a point -- it doesn't take into consideration things like rain, clouds, or fog and their effects on the brightness of the shot. What I'm interested in doing instead is taking advantage of the camera's built-in...

Re: New camera, compression artifacts through ZM...

Also, set Target colorspace to 32 bits, many ZM gurus confirm that this decreases CPU usage (I could confirm it too, but I´m not a guru... ;) ) I tested this recently and saw no difference. Mind you this was just looking at 'top' output... but maybe when I did the test I had the camera in monitor m...

Re: New camera, compression artifacts through ZM...

SteveGilvarry,

I had the camera set up via Onvif. Do you know which is responsible for supplying "RTP/Unicase" (Camera / ZoneMinder)? From what you've stated, it seems like a poor default choice. If the camera is supplying that info, I'd like to email their support about possibly changing this.

Re: New camera, compression artifacts through ZM...

Update: I don't get any lost frames in VLC when VM isn't also monitoring the feed. I suspect I was just seeing those lost frames because two devices were attempting to watch the feed simultaneously. Note that the compression artifacts remain when ZM is exclusively monitoring the camera.

Anyone else getting captchas when logging in here?

Just saw a notice that after some number of failed login attempts, I needed to enter in a captcha. I use a password manager, so there are never any mistaken authentications when logging in. Is the forum under attack? Just my account? Bug in the forum code?

Re: Massive amount of events were just deleted...

Glad to hear this filter is finally getting retired.

Is there a filter that can delete the oldest entries until a threshold has been met? Much like how backup software / Time Machine works?

Barring that, perhaps a script that utilizes the API?
