Re: RTSP stream, image smudging and ZM Warnings

Okay, so the smudging started again and I've been trolling other threads here and in the foscam forum. Some notes: a) Adding ?tcp to the URL makes ZM go berserk - I get logs saying "Unable to open input rtsp://xxx:xxx@xxxxxxxx:20001/videoMain?tcp due to: Operation now in progress" for all my streams...

Re: Help in getting me started with right threshold values?

Kkroft, thanks for linking to your post. It was extremely useful. I've made excellent progress. Can you confirm if my understanding is right - I am not sure if ZM is applying each layer of checks on the complete area or the area detected by the previous layer of checks For example, take the zone on ...

Re: RTSP stream, image smudging and ZM Warnings

Thanks Bbunge, On ?tcp, I think that would depend on the camera supporting that parameter and from what I've read, I don't believe Foscams support it. I am using the following workaround instead: Instead of using my internal IPs for monitoring, I am routing it through my ddns (public) IP and in my r...

Re: RTSP stream, image smudging and ZM Warnings

Okay, so here is my analysis: a) During transcoding, it seems FFMPEG is smudging an RTSP stream rather often. My guess I can play with options somewhere in ffmpeg? b) If I use libvlc, there is no smudging, but it hogs all my CPU (97-98% consistent) and every once in a while I get green frames for lo...

RTSP stream, image smudging and ZM Warnings

Hello, I am trying to debug the following situation: My ZM is monitoring a Foscam 9831W camera (1280x960) Very often, when looking at live view, or even timeline recordings, I see the recorded image is "smudged" significantly Around that time I get this problem, no errors are generated, no buffer ov...

I figure it's a problem with the vlc version I'm using. Is there a way to find out what version of vlc was used to test ZoneMinder 1.28.1?
Have you tried FFMPEG instead of VLC? Looks like your camera supports RTSP (as does mine) and FFMPEG seems to work fine

Not quite sure if you are accurately posting error messages. Can you please tell us what is the output of

Code: Select all

ls -l /etc/zm

Re: Help in getting me started with right threshold values?

Nerre, yes there is - note the pillars - they have grooves in them - they seem to always cause havoc with ZM's detection - I think the shadow play is quite large there and depending on small lighting variations, ZM seems to always think there is activity on the pillars. So instead of overlaying 3 in...

Re: Help in getting me started with right threshold values?

KK, thanks for your help. I'll start reading your link right away. In the mean time, here are my settings: Stairs == stairs leading down on the left door == basement door couch = couch area on right My logic is as follows: I am using filtered pixels to first get a sense of the logic I want a trigger...

using your iPhone location to change ZM run state

Hey folks, pretty happy about this little hack: Using your iphone location to trigger ZM run state The premise is this: let's say you are running ZM on schedule, but you break the schedule - go out for a dinner or whatever. I've put together a way to use iCloud's "Find my phone" service to check you...

HOWTO:Zoneminder recording if your 'iPhone' is out of home

(Note: this howto needs a lot of cleaning up. It's currently geek-folk friendly, not user friendly - you need to change stuff etc and has dependencies on other changes I made to ZM... I'll clean it all up, I promise) This weekend, I spent some time thinking about how cool it would be if I could aut...

Help in getting me started with right threshold values?

Hi all, I have this urge to try ZM's motion detection algorithms again. I am currently using Foscam's own motion detection triggers (via zmtrigger.pl) and its working reasonably well. However, I want to give ZM's own algorithms a good try and I am looking for help to get started. Every time I switch...

Re: Finding our current run state

Thank you, Simon. Unfortunately, checking monitor states won't work as my "out" and "vacation" states are exactly the same - they both put all my cameras on nodect. The difference is when in vacation mode, I don't want cron switching back to disable at specific times. I've gone ahead and changed bot...

[SOLVED] Finding out current run state

Is there a way for me to find out the current running state of zone minder? Not just 'running' or 'stopped' but assuming I've created 2-3 run states, find out that state (let's say I have 3 states: in, out, vacation), I'd like to know which state ZM is in (while running) Use-case: I have a cron that...
