Re: modect stopped working

I mokeyed with some symbolic links (I store the images and events on a raid array with more space than my boot drive. I just restarted it and I get errors, but the streams are viewable. zms.log looks like this: 09/24/15 22:55:35.502469 zms[16108].INF-/var/tmp/portage/www-misc/zoneminder-1.28.1/work/...

modect stopped working

I've been running zoneminder with foscam cameras for a couple of years. I updated my gentoo a few months ago and motion detection stopped working. Images are still capturing because I can see them in montage. But motion is never detected and images are never stored. I reinstalled and created a new m...

Re: Low Res Okay, 720p busted.

Bump. I'm still dead in the water.

I figure it's a problem with the vlc version I'm using. Is there a way to find out what version of vlc was used to test ZoneMinder 1.28.1?

Re: Low Res Okay, 720p busted.

I just realized that the error message I posted was bogus. ZM is trying to start my two disabled cameras and of course it can't connect to them. In fact the 720p camera is monitor 2 and zmc is segfaulting. Here's the error messages: Any clues would be appreciated. I'll try the command line the log r...

Re: Low Res Okay, 720p busted.

Workaround: http://foscam.us/forum/fi9820w-and-zoneminder-a-workaround-t4108.html I have a FL9821W that works well on FFMPEG. Have turned the resolution and frame rate down a bit I'll give that a try, thanks. Update: nope, not going to lower the 720p video to less than VGA. This was working before ...

Low Res Okay, 720p busted.

I recently upgraded from 1.27 to 1.28.1 and my HD camera stopped working. (SD cameras are working) It was completely working with 1.27 using libvlc. Now I can't get it to work with libvlc or ffmpeg. It's foscam FL9820W and it's a crappy camera who's mpeg stream breaks when the light levels are just ...

Re: Where's the latest tarball, build and install instructio

You really think you oughtta get a dedicated Debian machine... and run my image..... ;) I've told you G, I'm not moving away from Gentoo and the overhead of the VM is too high. Update: I get bad partial frames once in a while from the camera. I think its actually bad encoding in the camera. I think...

Re: Where's the latest tarball, build and install instructio

I'm having problems with the HD camera. A huge number of bad frames as the sun sets. Massive alarms. Its brutal.

I have to figure out if it was a bandwidth issue or a lighting issue.

Re: Where's the latest tarball, build and install instructio

I don't know if anyone can help me with this, but when I try to play back recordings from the STD DEF camera, the playback freezes after a couple of frames. The only message I get in the log is: 2014-04-16 15:03:22.583745 web_php 9912 ERR Timed out waiting for msg zm/includes/functions.php 2329 But ...

Re: Where's the latest tarball, build and install instructio

Update: looks like slowing down the frame rate increased the quality and eliminated the bad frames. I got good video of the FexEx guy delivering a package this morning.

So awesome!

Thanks again!

Re: Where's the latest tarball, build and install instructio

If its on wifi I would check and see if your access point is free of interference and run a ping on it for 20 or 30 minutes and see if you get high latency or dropped packets. If you have not done so already I would also make sure that you dont have a min/max FPS set for that monitor on the zonemin...

Re: Where's the latest tarball, build and install instructio

I'm still getting partial frame errors (stripes) from the HD camera. Only one frame in about 90 minutes.

Is that likely a wireless networking issue?

Is there a way I can debug this?

Thanks much.

Re: Where's the latest tarball, build and install instructio

Are you running the VLC client on Windows or Linux? I had some issues with the default VLC package on Ubuntu 13.04 playing RTSP streams, I can take a look at my notes to see why it was failing. Do you get any interesting output if you run VLC from a shell like "vlc -v rtsp://host/whatever"? It migh...
