Re: UPS POWEROUT event to trigger Zoneminder

apcupsd on Ubuntu will do a system shutdown when the battery runs out. Hopefully before the battery runs out ... But seriously -- I'm always nervous of the idea of waiting until the UPS decides "that's it, we're on fumes! Time to think about shutting down!" -- because sometimes the delay between hi...

Re: Source not capturing when rotated

Hi, i wrote the 12 byte (24bit color) 16 byte (32bit color) limitation. On ARM i believe the 32bit color is 64 bytes. Technically its possible to remove it, by adding special handling code for the remaining bytes. I want to correct what has been said in this thread. The limitation is for the total ...

Re: Double saved folder with same record

Hi! It is not costing you double the storage, and please don't delete things by hand, otherwise you will at some point lose events you want to keep (or at least confuse ZoneMinder). Zoneminder creates a numbered directory for each camera (monitor). The number is the "monitor ID" used within ZoneMind...

Re: Recorded video take a long time to display in mp4

Is the long wait because your browser is indeed downloading the whole thing (before it lets you play it at all), so that it can truly know the size, and then let you seek in it? Firefox is letting you view it while still downloading (cacheing) at the expense of being able to seek. Can't seek, I don'...

Re: Could not open out file: permission denied

Ah, not what I was expecting! ext4 is a proper file system. Good. Direct SATA connection -- Good -- this rules out flaky USB enclosures and CIFS/SMB networking devices that don't know how to work properly. The wide permissions being deliberate I can understand, please make sure to re-attach the door...

Re: Could not open out file: permission denied

Need more information about the external drive -- most importantly, is it using a FAT filesystem, or a proper one like ext4? How is it connected (USB, network?) Model number etc. (so others can Google what you've got). It is possible that the drive is using a FAT file system (which is pretty clueles...

Re: Noob trying to get zoneminder stable

You may want to search the forum for posts regarding keywords: FFMPEG and "streaking, smearing, blurring" ... to see if you can optimise how you are handling the video streams.

Reducing resolution and frame rate can relieve some of the stress on the system, making it appear stable ;)

Re: Even time is incorrect

My guess is you changed the thing that needed to be fixed, but it didn't get picked up by Zoneminder/MySQL/Apache which was already running and happy being 4 hours adrift.

Until something caused one of [ZM/MySQL/Apache] to re-read its config, restart, reboot, at which point it "fixed itself" :)

Re: Source not capturing when rotated

Well that's even worse, because that collection of horizontal resolutions are ALL indigestible by 16 :)

As in -- I would hope they all make something feel unwell!

Re: Source not capturing when rotated

Why would divisibility by 16 matter in one dimension but not another? As per iconnor's post -- I just discovered that when batch transcoding videos at their "supplied size" into xvid/mp4 formats, I would get a hard "segmentation fault" refusal from FFMPEG for some of them. The only thing in common ...

Re: Source not capturing when rotated

It may be that 1920 divides exactly by 16, yet 1080 does NOT divide by 16.

I've come across general video-handling-with-FFMPEG problems when using X-resolutions that are not exact multiples of 16, so have become sensitive to that one :)

Can you check and edit this post, as it looks like part of the printf got munched away (here AND in your other posting of it) -- there's an unbalanced quote which made me notice ...

Code: Select all

 -printf '%T@\t%s\t%p\n'>

Re: PurgeWhenFull stops working

"E.AlarmFrames < -2 weeks " This makes no sense to me, it might to you :) If AlarmFrames is a count of how many frames are "alarmworthy", then what is the meaning of "< -2 weeks"? It would be odd to have less than -2 alarmed frames, wouldn't "0" be a real-world minimum there? I think maybe something...

Re: I need help getting audio recording to work

Where is zm_ffmpeg.cpp located in a standard zoneminder install? I was gonna investigate line 70 of that file to see what's up with it. For future general Unix reference ... if you have locate or slocate installed, you can do this :- # locate "zm_ffmpeg.cpp" /usr/local/src/zoneminder/ZoneMinder-1.2...

Re: Can zonminder service "crash" from low power?

Although the USB spec does allow a tolerance under/over 5v, and other devices may well work with that PSU, a lot of the "Raspberry Pi approved" power supplies are set for the upper end of the voltage range to help with this.
