Re: No events, no recording

Dear All, I installed zoneminder to my old IBM laptop with Debian on it. I had a lot of difficulty to add my IP camera to the system but finally I managed it. And after I thought I was okay I couldn't fined any recordings, no events, nothing. I can see the live camera footage with some time delay b...

Re: zmc exit with 213 / shared data not valid

Hi there, i made a fresh install of zoneminder to a raspi 3 according to the wiki. The only difference is,that i used the zoneminder package that comes with apt-get install zoneminder. :!: A minor differnce is that i am using a mariadb10 on another host and not locally. None of the monitors work. A...

Re: PurgeWhenFull not working

In the past when the disk got too full the system would hang. I had to manually delete a bunch of events to get it working again. I've also found that 95% to start the purge is too much. 85% for a single drive system gives a bit of a cushion to let the system work.

Re: Alarm frames missing/dropping

I have never been 100% satisfied with Zoneminder on Debian 9. You can check the install procedures on the wiki to see if you missed anything.

Save the images as jpeg. Video recording does not work on arm.

Re: Zoneminder keeps crashing

200 may not be enough. I have a server with a lot of folks viewing montage so I set connections to 1000.

Check your memory especially tmpfs. Linux uses half of the RAM for tmpfs and Zoneminder can fill that space, /dev/shm, if you use high resolution camera settings.

Re: Zoneminder keeps crashing

Run mysqltuner to see recommendations. Note that the value may not be in the my.cnf or one of the other config files for the database server but the server is using a default value (151 for Mariadb). It is possible the my.cnf is pretty bare. You can add a value to the file: [mysqld] max_connections=...

Re: Camera not working

By offline do you mean the pc is not connected to a network? If so with a USB local camera it should not matter. I set up my test PC with Debian 9, loaded up Zoneminder 1.30.4 per the instructions in the WIKI and connected a Logitech USB V-UBK45 camera. Running Local, Pal B, 32 BIT colour, 640x480 w...

Re: What is the likely cause of pixellation?

Thanks bbunge and jwarfin. It's a rainy day here today so it's a good time to rebuild the PC with Bionic Beaver and 1.32.3 I'll report back. If you are interested I've updated my install script to install Apache2, Mariadb, PHP and Zoneminder 1.32.x See: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Ubuntu_Server_18....

Re: What is the likely cause of pixellation?

Couple of things to try: lower the resolution lower the frame rate (do this at the camera) with ffmpeg use TCP Your cameras likely support several formats. Try several at the lower frame rate and resolution. Get it working at lower rates then increase the settings. With an i5 and 15 GB RAM you shoul...

Re: Unable to read videos from web console

From what I've learned about Zoneminder on a Pi, you can not record videos directly. You can do jpeg's which should be able to be exported as a video file the same as any other Zoneminder install. I am currently running ZM 1.32.3 on a 64 bit Ubuntu Pi. Will try to take some time to see if the video ...

Re: Disk Array for Laptop USB3

Using a laptop hard drive for an always on system is not a great idea. One way to go would be to use a ssd for the OS and an external, powered USB (desktop) drive for storage. Better yet look for a used desktop and a good WD hard drive. There are places that get PC's to recycle and a lot of those us...
