Re: Storage Issues

Systemd is a safer way to mount a drive with Zoneminder. This is my first venture into multiple drives with ZM 1.32.x and someone may say I did something wrong and that is OK because my system works and I'm still willing to learn in spite of being an old guy... I set up a Ubuntu Bionic server with t...

Re: ZoneMinder makes Raspberry super slow

I recommend running the pi without the gui when you install Zoneminder. The pi 3 has a gig of ram of which 500 meg is used by tmpfs. The full gui version of Rasperian eats that up quickly. Also use low res cameras.

Re: Storage Issues

If it helps im on ubuntu mate 1804 Kindly tell us a bit about your storage. Did you change from the Zoneminder default? Is the drive a physical drive on the same PC and how is that drive mounted? Is the storage on another device (NAS?) that you have mounted to the Zoneminder machine and if so how i...

Solved: Database Log not purging

Looks like I solved my own problem. With OPT_FAST_DELETE enabled, zmaudit.pl was not able to clean out enough files in the 900 seconds between runs, specified by AUDIT_CHECK_INTERVAL, to get to the log prune which happens at the end of the zmaudit.pl run. So, the log file built up and the hard drive...

Database Log not purging

Zoneminder on Bionic with Mariadb. Had an issue last week with the quad core CPU running over 80% while it normally runs 15-40% Investigating I discovered the zm database over 10GB! Increasing the innodb_buffer_pool_size calmed the processor but furthur research showed the zm/log table over 7GB. The...

Re: Annoying TZ Problem

You've probably done it, but double check your php.ini - I'm pretty sure I read that at least one of the installers adds a date/time setting at the end. You are correct. If you use one of my install shell scripts from the WIKI, the date.timezone setting is appended to the php.ini based on the conte...

Re: Need Recommendation for Zone Minder Server

I'm running ver 1.30.04 on Debian 9 with 4 2mp poe cameras set to Mocord at 9 fps and everything works fine. I want to upgrade the cameras to at least 4mp, possibly as high as 8mp if the price is right, as well as add 5 more cameras for a total of 9. Buy a used server on ebay or a local IT recycler...

Re: Zoneminder 1.33.X Debian 9

As a test I fired up a Debian 9 machine, updated it, installed Apache, Mariadb and PHP. Added source: # ZoneMinder repository deb https://zmrepo.zoneminder.com/debian/release stretch/ Except for the Zoneminder source I followed the install instructions at: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Debian_9_64-bit...

Re: Need Recommendation for Zone Minder Server

4 mp is overkill for a security camera system. I run 17 cameras 640x480 5 fps on an i5 quad core, 16 GB Ram, 1 TB WD Black HD. Mocord on 5 cameras while working modect the rest of the time. HD averages 70% used with 30 day purge.
Stay with lower res cameras and buy yourself a new laptop!
