Re: Docker install fails: No usable dialog-like program is installed

The build methods described in our documentation use the exact same build scripts as the pre-built packages. Why maintain two different sets of build scripts? :-) Consequently, I would expect you to be faced with the same problems should you choose to build zoneminder yourself vs. using the prebuilt...

Re: Docker install fails: No usable dialog-like program is installed

The documentation the author is referring to shows one how to build ZoneMinder into a package (only). Those are not the instructions to install and run ZoneMinder. Once you have ZoneMinder built into a package, you still need to follow the instructions to install and configure ZoneMinder here, subst...

Re: Upgrades issues

I've added the warning about the web console being corrupted or mostly empty post-upgrade if step 3 is not performed correctly. HERE IS THE LONG ANSWER EXPLAINING WHAT IS GOING ON Remember that, if you have ever modified a config file installed by any package, rpm will leave that file hanging around...

Re: api and nginx

I just finished splitting the official zoneminder rpm into apache and nginx subpackages. I was testing the nginx portion for the first time when I noticed the api support in the nginx config was broken. I knew there was some existing conversation in the user forum so I went looking for a quick fix. ...

Re: Upgrade Protip: critical symlink may be missing post xenial to bionic upgrade

No, you're absolutely right. It's just an alias not a script alias.

Exactly how you set up the alias is distro & web server dependent. If you need help setting that up, let us know what you are running.

Re: X-FRAME-OPTIONS and Web Type Monitors

For website cameras, zoneminder merely presents a url for the client browser to retrieve. So if it were possible to strip out the x-frame-options from the target website, it would have to be done between the client browser and the target website ...i.e. a proxy running on your firewall or something ...

Re: Upgrade Protip: critical symlink may be missing post xenial to bionic upgrade

No, this is wrong. Do not create symlinks in your webroot. Fix the script alias in your web browser config instead.

Re: X-FRAME-OPTIONS and Web Type Monitors

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who finds this feature useful, but I'm not sure I understand what the issue is. Here is the workflow for setting up a website monitor: set up monitor of type "website" Observe the website does not show in the monitor and ZoneMinder logs an X-FRAME-OPTIONS warning lo...

Re: Unable to connect to ZM db.SQLSTATE[HY000] [1040] Too many connections

The zoneminder navbar tells you how many connections there are currently and what your max is. You should keep an eye on that.

Re: Broke my APIs on Upgrade

Understood.
That's exactly the kind of feedback we are looking for. Nginx is one of things I never really have sufficient time to dig into.

Now if we could get an Ubuntu user to try this and claim success, I'll add it to the project.

Re: Broke my APIs on Upgrade

hmmmm.... that config does not look like it contains an alias for the new cache folder. This one might be a little closer to what is needed: https://github.com/ZoneMinder/zoneminder/issues/2213#issuecomment-423321998 That user built from source though... you will need to update the paths to match yo...

Re: Broke my APIs on Upgrade

OP is using nginx, which means he needs to manually update the webserver config file. So far, I have yet to hear anyone report success with this. You may want to contact pedulla as he was working on an updated nginx config for zoneminder. Once I get confirmation of a working config, I can add it to ...

Re: No image in Monitor #2249

The Path_ZMS you provided is incorrect. I am not familiar with Arch so I can't simply tell you what it should be set to. PATH_ZMS is not a folder path on your filesystem. It is a partial url that has to precisely match the script alias, which is found in the web server configuration file. So find yo...
