Yes, you certainly can go with a minimal CentOS install.

Re: Can't access web interface

Yes, that's a good idea to not install a desktop on your server. I know the README can be confusing for first time users. The difficulty lies in creating a comprehensive document that covers as many different use cases as possible. I have written the README such that you can copy/paste from it direc...

Re: Can't access web interface

We are flattered the popularity of ZoneMinder is such that other sites have written their own installation guides, but we simply cannot recommend nor support them. The steps you need to be following are the steps documented in the README. That's the only thing you need to follow for a basic installa...

Re: Kerberos.io - A new competitor in the FOSS surveillance arena?

Dear Moe, EpicThoughts, HZ, whatever you want to call yourself... You are not welcome here, not because you have a competing product, but because you continually act like a 12 year old. When we were children, we employed the tactics you currently employ. The thing is most of us grow out of it. The s...

Re: ZM Documentation Updates

Hi Chris,
Welcome to the project. We could really use the help.
PM is incoming.

Just FYI, if you need quick answers to something, our Slack channel is the best way to get them. There is always someone there during typical US timezone business hours.

Re: Kerberos.io - A new competitor in the FOSS surveillance arena?

there are lots of new competitors. The newest's name is censored here to "yahoo" and website links get swapped so you can get a look at the app on YouTube. Why do you think that is, Moe? Could it be because you spin lies and half-truths about our project, as if that would get people to switch to yo...

Re: constant web page reload

@rockedge Based on what you told us in a previous thread, I'm not sure you've got the same issue described here. We tried to help you when you reported this in 1.32.1, and if you want to get to the bottom of it, you have to answer what I said here: https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=...

Re: Upgrade Protip: critical symlink may be missing post xenial to bionic upgrade

If the Alias only works sometimes, then that is an indication you've got something else not quite right on your system.

Re: Docker install fails: No usable dialog-like program is installed

The build methods described in our documentation use the exact same build scripts as the pre-built packages. Why maintain two different sets of build scripts? :-) Consequently, I would expect you to be faced with the same problems should you choose to build zoneminder yourself vs. using the prebuilt...

Re: Docker install fails: No usable dialog-like program is installed

The documentation the author is referring to shows one how to build ZoneMinder into a package (only). Those are not the instructions to install and run ZoneMinder. Once you have ZoneMinder built into a package, you still need to follow the instructions to install and configure ZoneMinder here, subst...

Re: Upgrades issues

I've added the warning about the web console being corrupted or mostly empty post-upgrade if step 3 is not performed correctly. HERE IS THE LONG ANSWER EXPLAINING WHAT IS GOING ON Remember that, if you have ever modified a config file installed by any package, rpm will leave that file hanging around...

Re: api and nginx

I just finished splitting the official zoneminder rpm into apache and nginx subpackages. I was testing the nginx portion for the first time when I noticed the api support in the nginx config was broken. I knew there was some existing conversation in the user forum so I went looking for a quick fix. ...

Re: Upgrade Protip: critical symlink may be missing post xenial to bionic upgrade

No, you're absolutely right. It's just an alias not a script alias.

Exactly how you set up the alias is distro & web server dependent. If you need help setting that up, let us know what you are running.

Re: X-FRAME-OPTIONS and Web Type Monitors

For website cameras, zoneminder merely presents a url for the client browser to retrieve. So if it were possible to strip out the x-frame-options from the target website, it would have to be done between the client browser and the target website ...i.e. a proxy running on your firewall or something ...
