I have a recommendation on the power supply if you go with a standard ATX box. I've quieted a couple of P4 dell systems (dimension 3000 and 4600) way down with a thermaltake purepower 430w PSU. It's a dual-80mm fan setup. I tried a coolermaster "quiet" PSU with a 120mm single fan, and the thing soun...

Send one alert every N minutes

Hi all, I'm looking for advice/suggestions on implementing limited SMS/text message alerts. I've used Panasonic IP cameras that have a delay feature after alerts, so that you can send a text message when there is motion detected, and then *not* send anymore text messages for some user-specified dela...

I was able to use my ISP's mail server here in the US with no problem. Maybe I'm lucky..? I'm using an Ubuntu server install and I didn't have to do anything special, just entered smtp.comcast.net (I use comcast cable internet). Some ISPs block outgoing mail when you try to use SMTP with an outside ...

I thought Lee Sharp has written in various places here that none of the GeoVision cards work with Linux. I hope you get a more positive answer but that's the information I've been going on as I've been researching cards.

Anyone have success with a Debian based system? (Like Ubuntu) :) Not sure yet if load is different; this is such a new setup to me that I can't reliably compare load averages, but here's what I did after some trial and error and a few trips over to ubuntuforums.org: wget http://cetus.sakura.ne.jp/s...

Thanks! And a very good point about matching a limited number of events. I have a filter of my own that auto deletes anything older than 30 days; I'm hoping given that I'll never run into purgewhenfull, but I suppose an error could cause false positive detections or something similar that could fill...

No, but I wonder if it relates to this from the "System" tab in options: ZM_OPT_FAST_DELETE Normally an event created as the result of an alarm consists of entries in one or more database tables plus the various files associated with it. When deleting events in the browser it can take a long time to...

Bring up the filter window, select "PurgeWhenFull", and hit "Save". In the box that pops up, select "Run filter in background" (the checkbox) and hit "Save".

Pico2000 jitter solved, but better solution?

I've been working with the pico2000-compatible (card=77) card for a few days now. As soon as I hooked up my 3rd camera, every once in awhile (every couple of hours at least) I would see image "jitter" where maybe 1 or 2 times per second all 3 images in the montage view (or any other view, for that m...

5-7 seems really high to me despite your system being a powerhouse compared to mine. :) Anything over 2 (1 per core/CPU) means there's more than the current system can handle without making something wait. At least as I understand load, which is probably "not that well". I'm keeping my loads under 0...

People appearing in the middle of an event sounds like dropped frames to me - like your CPU is overloaded perhaps. I'm just learning about ZM so this is all new to me, but by default there's a pre- and post-event buffer of 10 frames that gets prepended and appended to each event. If the significant ...

Found this

I was interested in this too. Reading the FAQ in the Wiki I found this: http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/FAQ#How_can_I_get_ZM_to_do_different_things_at_different_times_of_day_or_week.3F You can define running states that are sets of monitor functions and enable them on the command line. The ...

I installed on the server. While I like the admin tools in X too, I couldn't afford the CPU cycles to running X alongside ZM. I'm currently on a p3 850Mhz...I know, not much. But it works! 2fps per monitor max and I can even montage 6 cameras at once and load stays under 1. Planning to upgrade to a ...
