Personally I would use Axis wireless cameras. I have had bad experiences with the low-end Panasonic wireless cameras. I would recommend one of these: AXIS 207W , AXIS 211W . I can find the 207W in the UK, but not the 211W. THe wiki states the 207 has some hardware issues, so i'd rather keep off it....

Wireless IP camera, preferably Panasonic ?

Hi, My installation is fine and working ok, some card based 'proper' cameras and several Panasonic BL-C10 IP cameras. We want a wireless IP camera to use to move quickly to 'trouble hotspots' in the factory. Can I risk getting a Panasonic BL-C131 which just seems a wireless BL-C10 or is there any ot...

I was just thinking.

jpeg compression. If space is not an issue, which it isn't for what we want, is setting a less compression figure better as it may use less processing power?
any thoughts ?

Thanks

(FWIW, I have a x2 amd 4600 running my server. It's loads are typically in the 1.5 to 4 region (normally slightly above or below 2.0) and has proved very reliable. Almost a year uptime for the box, and well over six months continuous running for ZM)
Yeah,
thanks

a 3800 (if not an x2) is a single core / processor so a load above 1 means there is always 1 thing in the queue. If your always at 1 ir above you will have issues and they may not be ram issues, linux needs less ram to work well than windows what are you asking of this machine Thanks. I'm on 6 came...

So an AMD Athlon 3800+ is hyperthreaded ? can go to approximately, but just below 2 ? Pardon me my knowledge of processors is a little limited.

And a few gig's of ram will help?

Thanks

Relation between Server Load and reliability

Hi,

When typing uptime, I get my server load figures.

at what level of load (i'm guessing '1') can I expect to start to see reliability issues?

Adding ram is a cheap and easy option. Is this really likely to help.

I am running the MMX jpeg libraries.

Thanks

Montage view missing cameras

Hi,

I think I read somewhere here, about a setting in Firefox but can't find it again.

In Montage view, only the first 2 camera display, the rest dont display, like it would be a missing picture at the URL.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Explination of Camera styles, i'm stuck.

Can someone explain for me as i'm stuck on a technicality. Inbuilt IR camera with the ring of lamps round the lens seem a bad choice cos of the spider problem (yes we have it). If I buy a separate lamp, which type of camera will work in 'night vision mode'. Is it just a normal low light one? PS: Any...

I'd second the "stick with whatever distro you know". The main Zoneminder developers produce RPMs (so they should always work), my Debian/Ubuntu package seems to be working reasonably well now, The only minor caveat is that I don't know the ZM internals that well, so there'll be a 2-step ...

Well,
just to let everyone know I didn't give up.

192.168.0.237/
worked.

I've just revisited this after a month AND after running the ubuntu updates and it just worked (tm)

good enough for me.
