On mine, I have the cheepo 4 port ebay special. I access all 4 cameras thru /dev/video0 (note the 0) and then 0 thru 3 in the device channel field. Set to NTSC and RGB24 with 320x240 size. Also, I had to add a module.conf entry because the card would not properly identify itself (id=77). Take a look...

I tried to pass BTTV in xen also, and failed. Plus it was suggested that this is not a good idea anyway. So now I am running zms to pass the stream from Dom0 to DomU and only running domU for monitor. I do the motion detect in dom0.

zmfix did not work for me. creating a video group and adding www-data user to that group worked and persists across reboots. chmoding the /dev entry works but only until the next reboot.

Take a look at the Debian package. Likely all of the dependencies are listed there. On my ubuntu system, I installed it with debi and it found and installed 33 pre-req packages prior to the actual zoneminder install. Peter Howard is the author of the deb package...

I am not trying to dissuade you, just to inform that what you desire in rpath is avail already. If you go do the rpath thing, that is good...and would likely meet a set of needs that is not met currently. Linux is about choice and more choice is good. However, I would not like to see zoneminder beco...

Why? I am doing all of that on Ubuntu 7.04 - Xen DomU running 7.04 with ZM, Samba (backup server) and email. DomU running a slave ZM with a small web site opened up to the internet (port 80), locked down tight. I have a few other DomU's that I can use for testing, plus I get the 20K packages of Ubun...

Did a re-test on Feisty and the dash fix is working, so updated the wiki. Only workaround now is to change nph_zms to zms so that I get reliable streaming for localhost., and I had to add www_data to the video group to allow access without chmod every reboot. BTW, running Xen on feisty so real easy ...

I just did a fresh install on a new feisty install with the latest edgy zm deb. Worked fine, with a simple workaround. See the wiki, where I updated it with instructions for feisty... I did not include camera info, since that can be situation specific. I am running a cheapo BT878 card and can give a...

Another way is to create a group called video and add www_data to it. Ubuntu created the /dev/video device in the video group, which does not exist. Zoneminder runs the capture as user www_data. This fix worked for me...

TV out

Does anyone have a capture card with a working monitor out feed? I see a couple of 4 port cards that have this electrical feature, but no info on whether it really works. Kind of pricey also... What I would like is to be able to feed all 4 channels out in a montage or a scroll (with titles if possib...
