Re: Cannot View Event Video

Nothing in the apache logs. OK, the FQDN error, and that is about it.

I did you that recipe on an Ubuntu server install. Went thought it more then twice as I missed a pathing setting.

Re: ZoneMinder + FreeNAS SMB

FreeNAS will do NFS and you will have much less trouble then with smb.

Re: High disk utilization

Using multiple partitions is old school. Modern distros use one partition by default. Well, maybe two, one swap and one ext4. Bionic uses one partition with a swap file. This only works if you have one disk. If you want videos on the NFS mount on the storage array and you want mysql to run on the n...

Re: Low CPU usage

You will need to decode the h264 and then display it, so there is some work. And 1080p is not lightweight. I have 4 720 streams in a VM with 2 cores and 3 gig of ram and I am getting close to the limits when I am looking at video. This is with modetect however.

Re: Cannot View Event Video

I am also getting this. Not often, and on different cameras. But often enough to be a problem. I lothe to try the fix below as then the events start too late. https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=21511 Also, tmpfs is 3% and my swap is almost untouched. But it is using a bit so I may tr...

Re: Running ZM in a VM

I am also running on KVM but with only 2 cores, and 4gig of ram. Load is not over .5 most of the time. Never over 1. I think it will need to be scoped properly, and you should also have the actual headroom on your hypervisor is it is not intermittent load!

Re: Secure PoE camera

I finally got the GeoVision/USAvision 1300 cameras working. They are 720p and $30 at Frys. Nice picture and the IR is controllable in the web config. The down side is that the web config is Internet Explorer ONLY! Even with no streaming... Sigh. But they are cheap!

Did anything change before the problem? This was not right after you upgraded to 17.10 is it?

Re: Preferable OS

Ubuntu is probably the most tested. And 16.04 has the most testing so far. Use what you are most comfortable with, but you will get support from people who know your OS. I have servers on everything from Ubuntu to FreeBSD, with lots of things inbetween. I used 16.04 on my recent install, as the 18.0...

Re: ffmpeg and vlc work. Zoneminder does not...

Sigh... Never mind... Missed this in the instructions. Need to bring back the flash tag from the 80s.
PATH_ZMS is not set to /zm/cgi-bin/nph-zms
Also, the images directory does not hold the images... :)

TLDR: User error, but the instructions could be more clear. :)

[Solved]ffmpeg and vlc work. Zoneminder does not...

I am trying to get the amazingly cheap GeoVision/USAvision cameras to work. I have the main channel set up for H.264 and the sub for mjpeg with RTSP. It works fine on vlc with rtsp://user:password@192.168.64.70/media/video1 and rtsp://user:password@192.168.64.70/media/video2 . It also captures fine ...
