Re: Adjusting my motion tuning - trying to understand stats...
Still have a bunch of questions but think I found a couple answers. The blobs trailing is from "reference image blend" which blends frames into the reference image as a percentage so a number of frames make up the reference image. I found that some of my alarm frames didn't have statistics...

Re: Adjusting my motion tuning - trying to understand stats...
I see that images can be inserted using the attachment tab below the main window so will try that... Here are two consecutive frames. When I look at stats some frames have two lines - an unnamed zone and one that I named. What's with the unnamed zone? I don't always see it in the stats so it must be...

Adjusting my motion tuning - trying to understand stats...
I am getting a huge amount of events so knuckled down and dug through some documentation and primarily the Understanding zoneminder's zoning system for dummies. I made a first attempt at settings and still see a lot of false alarms. One thing that puzzles me is blobs trailing the area of motion. The...

Re: Preferred way to clean up full disk?
I ran zmaudit (with sudo) and it reported cleaning up some things. But in the zoneminder page it still shows events for the deleted recordings. No linked recordings but the events are listed. I expected zmaudit to delete the event listing. What am I missing? I stopped ZM, ran zmaudit, then restarted...

Preferred way to clean up full disk?
Added a couple cameras and inadvertently had them recording full time and filled up my disk so ZM web page wasn't working but machine was still running and I could log in remotely (Ubuntu headless). So I couldn't run the filters that could usually be run to reduce disk space. I went into the numbere...

Setting up mythzmserver?
I have zoneminder on ubuntu 20.04 and mythtv on 22.04. I tried to just move the executable but it has dependencies that don't match. I looked at the myth wiki for that but it doesn't go into much detail assuming people just know what to do. Not a big deal but thought I would give it a try to see the...

What user to run zmaudit.pl?
I had my disk fill up. The machine was still running but zoneminder wasn't, or at least the web page didn't work. So I deleted older image files and rebooted. Zoneminder is working. Tried to run zmaudit using putty from another pc. Got a messange: Zoneminder configuraton file found but is not readab...

Re: Most events have been deleted
I also have a few events from about a year ago that were not deleted in the running of the filters. Not clear at all why not because as I understand it the purge when full should delete oldest events first. I also seem to have some events associated with old camera names that are no longer used. I a...

Re: Most events have been deleted
My disk space is now at 63% and is growing more quickly than expected although I have a lot of short recordings that are motion triggered that aren't anything. Motion tuning is needed but that's a different issue. I have unchecked "run in background" and saved both so thinking it will stop...

Re: Most events have been deleted
I looked around and didn't find much on the options other than noting that there were some options. Is there somewhere that has more detail or ideally some examples of what I am trying to do? This should be a pretty common need.

Most events have been deleted
Have been running my system with several cameras for a while. Recently the number of events stored went way down and only had the last day or two. When I checked several days ago the storage had hit 96% full which should have triggered some deletion but it now sits at 37%. I have less than 10 events...

2 NICs - make zoneminder accessible only from one?
I added a second NIC to isolate cameras from the internet. It works for that but plugged a PC into the isolated network and found that I could log into the zoneminder web page using the address from the other network. For example: 192.168.1.4 zone minder main network address 192.168.2.x Camera netwo...

Re: Connecting to cameras on second NIC
Was easier than I thought it would be. Used ip addr show to get MAC of both ports. Then set up DHCP by MAC on the routers on both networks. Added file: /etc/netplan/02-network-dual-nic.yaml network: version: 2 renderer: NetworkManager ethernets: eno1: dhcp4: true dhcp6: no enp2s0: dhcp4: true dhcp6:...

Connecting to cameras on second NIC
Have set up a second NIC on Ubuntu for an isolated camera network. Is connecting to the cameras as simple as using the IP of the cameras or is something else needed to access the second port network? I haven't done anything with 2 NICs before so unsure how things work.

Re: triggering from external switch closure and from ZM motion detection
Maybe I didn't explain things very well. This has nothing to do with the cameras and everything to do with zoneminder. I have a vehicle sensor hooked to another network node and planned to use this to trigger zm recording - this this is done via a script on the sensor network device. The motion sens...
