On searching more I found to turn off the V4L_MULTI_BUFFER option can help for certain circumstances. For me it works, flicker free @ 320 and 640. A separate drive is a good idea.

I have no idea how your distro would handle it, but as soon as you have it in and mounted, just go into Options in zoneminder and change the path to that new hard drive.

Thanks, will do. I actually didn't get anything working in tvtime when I tested it. It insisted to only go through video options as Composite, Tuner, SVideo, Composite 3... :/ (obviously with none of them showing anything).
