I have the same problem with labtec pro usb camera.
I put a grey filter on it when using outside in full daylight..

which ccd camera do you use?

I installed Zoneminder on a debian sarge system. All seems working. many thanks to all who made the documentation. I defined a small zone at the edge of my first camera image. and then i put the monitor in alarm (moving something inside the zone) the monitor goes in 'alarm state' and Zoneminder ...
