What is the fundamental difference in setting zm_event_notification with and without hooks? What will I lose or gain from this?

You are probably on 20.04, not 21.04 which doesn't exist. There were problems with ZM breaking when people did this. Check the forum here. I'm staying on 20.04 as it's LTS and still supported. The last event is of normal length, but the subsequent event of 5 minutes shows a length of 10 minutes. And so it comes to long event lengths. Although the duration of each event is actually 5 minutes.
