I think the atom/rss feed was lost. Hopefully that can be brought back. RSS is great.

Re: Help... Zoneminder is very slow

We are having frequent dropouts and artifacts on live feed and recorded clips. This happens mostly when there is a lot of movement in front of the cameras. When we log in to the webinterface of the individual cameras (Hikvision), the feeds are normal and in good quality. The live feeds and recordin...

Re: Hardware recommendation, 10 to 15 cameras, 5mp

Let me try to answer a few items, What I do not find any information about, is people who have taken a single server setup to the limit and can pinpoint at what point they had to start compromising to make it run. https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Dummies_Guide#How_Powerful_of_a_Computer_to_Use - More tha...

Re: Hardware recommendation, 10 to 15 cameras, 5mp

I'd recommend you look at the Hardware Queries forum: https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewforum.php?f=14. General hardware recommendations have been hashed over so many times you would think it's a joke. Perhaps a wiki page with some general recommendations for different scenarios would be in order. A...

Re: New bare-metal machine for ZoneMinder

IIRC, iconnor has said 3 cores per camera is a place to start. Five seconds in forum search for "cores per camera" will give you: https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=30973 At 720p 4 camera per real core. At 1080p 2 cameras per core. Try not to post erroneous information...

Re: Replaying Events for Testing Zones / Using a video file as a Source

This sounds like it would be useful combined with the script by LDBG that can make timelapse videos here: https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&p=123671#p123671 You can make a video of say 24 hours, and then run detection on it. Also a good way to fine tune zones, if you are so incline...

Re: triggering from external switch closure and from ZM motion detection

This is not really a zoneminder question, and more a general camera question (1.34 is the wrong board). Anyways, what camera make/model? Did you check the user manual to see what that says? You can also use ZMTrigger if you don't want to use the camera's built in IO connections. https://wiki.zonemin...

Re: Question to Pi4b performance and camera resolution

Try modect or mocord on a low res substream, and only passthrough and record on the 1080p stream. It's also possible to use the high res stream for two monitors and just downscale the resolution in ZM by a factor of 1/2 (or 1/4, ideally you have something around 320x240) for the analysis stream. Thi...

Re: How to save the images in a the Hdd external?

How did you end up in 1.30? You should be using 1.34 or 1.36.

Re: Add ability to save montage settings and default page

So far the one thing that I've found that makes Zoneminder less end user friendly is the interface. After initial configuration, the primary usage would likely be the montage view (for end users, such as office admins). Yes, I reviewed a dahua system recently and its pretty much montage view, recen...

Re: video missing to DL and time offset.

the cameras are dahua and its not an encoding error its a search/dl error on the ZM side. Instead of it downloading the correct video interval 12.30-12.50 it downloads 12.10-12.30 even though it shows the correct video in the montage. ZM is just a wrapper for libvlc or libffmpeg so the error would ...

General Tips for Business Deployments

Here are some things I've learned recently with zm in commercial settings: If you are setting up mobile phones with ZMNinja, and the wifi is the same WAN IP as the camera system, setup a VPS with a http/https proxy and point zmninja at the proxy. The proxy can be as simple as: [pre]sudo iptables-leg...

Re: NVR replacement ZM high CPU

It might be wise to use a combination of modect/mocord and record. For some cameras, you don't really care if you get statistics for each event. Say you are watching a store shelf, and if something is removed from the store shelf, it will be clear in the before / after of the video stream. In that c...

Re: NVR replacement ZM high CPU

Try lowering Analysis FPS to 2. Can be done via shell.

Code: Select all

update Monitors set AnalysisFPSLimit="2.00" where AnalysisFPSLimit is NULL;
Ref: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/MySQL

I like mocord more than modect, personally. Modect can miss events.
