Re: What controls the log file time format ?

Thanks for the info! I have done some basic code tweaking before and I kinda like PHP so this might be a fun task. I will keep you posted, may take me some time probably this weekend before I get a chance to do any real testing.

What controls the log file time format ?

I was wondering what is controlling the log file time format seen here in my attached image of the /var/log/messages? I would like to change this to 12 hour time if possible.

Re: my new (first time user) setup help suggestions needed....

Update: Due to all the false detection's I was getting no matter what settings, I decided to return my IP CMOS IR camera and go with an analog setup and a CCD camera and no IR's and now after my first trial run (last 24 hours) all my false alarms are 100% gone. All my motion detection now is accurat...

Re: Strange alarm frame

Based on my limited experience, with two types of cameras first one was an IP CMOS, and my latest using this now analog CCD type and capture card, and I got a lot of noise in the first one IP CMOS and got a ton of false alarms some had those red perimeter outlines. With my latest CCD camera, I trade...

Re: my new (first time user) setup help suggestions needed....

Actually, I think doing the previous changes you mentioned worked since after I re-booted the server; Today it stay running with no issues and did a bunch of event recording so so far so good. But this was a test with only one camera so I do think I will build a new PC system that will handle 4 came...

Re: my new (first time user) setup help suggestions needed....

I made the changes thank you for the tips; I also had to re-boot the camera, not sure why I did not think of this sooner. With those FPS text box's empty the Watch window now shows about 12.0 fps and the load is 0.48 - 0.62. Update: I started testing in Modect, and I must say I am very impressed wit...

Re: my new (first time user) setup help suggestions needed....

Update: I got the camera now working <for camera details see the Amazon link in my earlier post> and initially I did struggle but I finally got it working using Ffmpeg. After I also was able to get it working using the Preset option for H.264 as a Foscam FI8620 type initially this would have been th...

Re: my new (first time user) setup help suggestions needed....

Thank You. So I ended up with Debian 8 but with no GUI at all, and I was able to launch ZoneMinder from another PC using hostname@"my IP"/zm I ended up guessing at this path/connection string after a few failed try's :P I need a book on Linux for dummies, but I am happy I got this far! Sti...

Re: my new (first time user) setup help suggestions needed....

Had trouble launching it from the terminal. So I then figured it was not installed and I ran the command to install firefox and then I got an error that said gdk_backend problem maybe I missed installing a base package? This is my only issue so far.

Re: my new (first time user) setup help suggestions needed....

Cool, thanks for the info, I like the idea of direct cat5 hard wire too. I been wanting to learn more about networking also and going with IP cameras would help me learn so I guess its a win win situation.

Now the IP and camera hunt begins!

Re: Question on the theoretical consumption of zoneminder

I was glad to see this post, and I bet there must be a calculator that someone has made to figure this out. I am working on one now based on the FAQ page found here http://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/stable/faq.html look for the section that says "Math for Memory: Making sure you have enough m...
