Re: socket_sendto( /tmp/zm/zms-xxxxxxs.sock ) Only on intern

This error shows up on other newer distributions as well (F17 and 18alpha). I tracked it down to php socket libraries. I think it due to some changes in the latest php version, but have not confirmed the version that worked and where it broke. My system is still without live view. I am just a longti...

Re: How To reset back to classic if I accidentally selected

Yes Thanks, I was "trying new settings out too.

Re: Upgraded to Fedora 15, zoneminder won't start

Thanks MarcoP I corrected the 3 bugzilla items (in the previous post) and everything came to life! 1) changed line 91 in /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/ZoneMinder/Memory/Mapped.pm to my $mmap_addr = mmap( $mmap, $size, *PROT_READ|*PROT_WRITE, *MAP_SHARED, \*MMAP ); 2) ln -s /var/log/zoneminder /var/lo...

Ferdora Hangs due to Shared Memory

One thing that hung me was the shared memory settings. It hooped me with hangs that I couldn't get logs for months Check the Wiki FAQ for shared memory http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/FAQ#What_does_a_.27Can.27t_shmget:_Invalid_argument.27_error_in_my_logs_mean.3F and this post. http://www.z...

Try the extras package

I built everything from source so these are just my thoughts based on a bunch of other installs. You are probably best off with the extras package. Setup the livna repo and do a yum install zoneminder It will search for required packages and report what you don't have and where it wants to download ...

JFS is speedy and reliable

I also use JFS. The main reason is that I also have MythTV running on the same box. JFS is very efficient at handling large files (video files). The ZM files also live on that partition because there is lots of space. My system also uses LVM to turn 3 JFS formatted physical volumes into one logical ...

Hard disk partitioning

As Kevin said 5G should be okay if you keep /var on a separate partition. If you are going to only have 2 partitions (/, and /var) you might want to make the root / a bit bigger, because you will probably be doing source building in your /home and other installs that go into /usr somewhere I would s...

BTTV Card Settings

Does anybody know where the settings for the bttv cards are? The settings to get the card config'd and running is in the /etc/modprobe.conf the dmesg should show if it is a module config error. I am getting an error in one of my logs like 'monitor type not set'. That sounds like a ZM error. You set...

Shared Memory issues

A couple of suggestions, search the forums for "shared memory permissions". Check the wiki - FAQ Also take a look at http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9692 for some tips on getting your memory settings correct. There seems to be a difference from what is on the Wiki-FAQ. Aft...

Forum search - Does not Like Numbers?

When I try to do a forum search for a number it gives me back "no results", when I know there are posts with the number string in them. Example: search for - 2.6.21.5 I am looking for people that have upgraded their kernel to 2.6.21.5 and have problems with their bttv module. I have also t...

Black Vids Until TVTIME

I am have a similar issue but with with an updated kernel (2.6.21.5) on FC6. This Black screen issue only popped up after the kernel upgrade. I was running the FC6 Kernel - 2.6.19-1.2911.fc6 until I needed to debug a different memory issue. I built my new kernel from kernel.org source and my bttv vi...

Shared Memory Config TIPS

I have been fighting with a random hang memory problem after an upgrade from a FC4 to FC6 install. It ended up being my shared memory settings. See below for details, but first my system info: FC6 with a custom kernel build 2.6.21.5 build for my AMD X2 3GB (originally 1GB) RAM over 700GB disks with ...
