Re: Periodic restarts of ZM required?

Well, I connected a second camera (a foscam c1), and it apparently worked for all of two days before it dropped out and started throwing similar errors to above and not showing any camera feed (even though the direct feed works fine): getStreamCmdResponse stream error: socket_sendto( /tmp/zm/zms-308...

Re: Periodic restarts of ZM required?

Good catch. I'll have to take a look at that. Currently mine (which is just a softlink to /run/shm) is at 693MB in both ls and df, but it has 7.7GB total (since I have 16GB of ram in this box). I'll watch to see if that grows over time or is maxed out when I lose a camera. Could be that something in...

Re: Periodic restarts of ZM required?

Haus, I'm curious what resolution / bit rate / frame rate you're using on the cameras. I'm going for full 1080 resolution because it's a large space I'm covering (outdoor and garage), but I've lowered the frame rate to 5 frames per second. Everything there matches up now, but I still get smearing ev...

Re: Periodic restarts of ZM required?

On this topic, I was told by the forum to use libvlc because of the huge amount of smearing I was getting with ffmpeg: https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=25314 I tried the various workarounds for ffmpeg (buffer size, tx/rx sizes on the server, rtp/rtsp, etc) and couldn't get it t...

Periodic restarts of ZM required?

I've got a single camera hooked up while I evaluate ZM right now. It's an amcrest qcam. What I've noticed is that every week or so, zoneminder simply loses the video stream of the camera. I'm not sure why, but restarting zoneminder gets the stream back. I don't have the camera set to reboot or anyth...

Re: Qcam IP2M822E

Thanks for the tip there. I'm also noticing smearing even with libvlc, though instead of every 5 seconds, it's every couple hours ... looks like I could adjust the minimum average alarm score or something to not alarm all of those, but I'll check out the link and search out threads as well. Much app...

Re: Qcam IP2M822E

Understood, and that appears to work. Just as the linked site says, it definitely does take far more CPU (went from 25% to 35% for each camera ... good thing this is a quad core machine since I'm going to be using at least 5 cameras).

Re: Qcam IP2M822E

One more question in case anyone knows for this camera (couldn't find it online) I see a lot of "smearing / smudging" in the monitoring view. Virtually every five seconds I stare at a second or two of smearing. I looked at this site: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Doing_your_best_to_get_rid_o...

Re: Qcam IP2M822E

Gotcha. Pretty swift :).

I don't think I need to do that ... running 5 cameras on a gig network ... so I'll leave it alone and working for now, but good to know it's possible!

Thanks!

Re: Qcam IP2M822E

Oooo!!! This should be selling feature #1! Just tried it and it worked beautifully. In case anyone stumbles over here, the settings it picked are: rtsp://admin:12345@192.168.1.16:554/h264Preview_01_main RTP/Unicast 24 bit colour 1920x1080 It also had a 640 resolution smaller stream. I don't see, tho...

Re: Qcam IP2M822E

Gotcha. I can't imagine anything else has the stream since I've tried rebooting both the camera and the server (and closing down / killing all browsers) between trying to set up again. I'd love to try this onvif manager to determine the actual resolution, but it seems that's a windows-only tool? Are...

Re: Qcam IP2M822E

If no one has any answer for that specifically ... is there any other debugging I can do? I'm trying to figure out next steps here.

Qcam IP2M822E

I'm now trying a second camera on zoneminder and having problems again ... similar symptom, but solution must be different. Note that my first camera (a Foscam C1) is now working perfectly in zoneminder using ffmpeg, so there shouldn't be any underlying ZM or ffmpeg problems. This is an Amcrest (whi...

Re: Foscam C1 on Ubuntu issues

Don't know what to say ... my C1 didn't have ONVIF turned on, and within ONVIF it lets you set the port for both ONVIF and RTSP ... I made that one single change and it started working. As to the database, it's possible that was a mistake on my part somewhere. I initially installed zoneminder, but a...

Re: Foscam C1 on Ubuntu issues

Holy goodness this was painful for such a simple solution. Something you said had me going to look for the port info again, and apparently in the camera, you have to turn on "Onvif" to enable RTSP. Turned that on, re-saved the camera info, and boom, 1280x1024 showing clearly in ZM. On to p...
