camera control script design question

I have a camera that sometimes needs to be rebooted. I have a camera control script which correctly reboots the camera. But of course when I do this, it causes the monitor to crash and hundreds of log entries (buffer overflow) get written as a result. Manually turning off the monitor via the console...

Re: Filter to convert Events to h264 video and save to custom location

What does this do to CPU load?

I haven't tried this, but it certainly looks more efficient, simpler and easier to manage than my horrible asynchronous ffmpeg cron ugliness!

Just FYI, if you need quick answers to something, our Slack channel is the best way to get them.
As in Slack.com? Seriously? Come on guys, thats a fee for service outfit, and it prohibits anonymous access! Seems totally counter the whole ZM mindset. Am I misunderstanding?

Re: Alarm Mode - Use Static JPG and ZMTrigger as alarm only

I have been pursuing this as well. Here's my plan: 1 - Motion detection will be done with one of these . 2 - A Raspberry Pi will be configured to connect to the "relay" shunt of the Guardline receiver. Here is RPi guidance on how to do that . 3 - I will have to write a bit of script on the Pi to che...

There's some instructions at https://wiki.zoneminder.com/ZMTrigger
Thx, I will look through that and see if I missed it.

Request for help: External trigger

What is the easiest way to trigger (zmtrigger.pl, right?) Zoneminder with a simple open/closed circuit connection? IOW, I have an external sensor which when it senses what I want to sense, it closes a simple relay circuit. I need to detect that relay closure (presence of a connection) with ZM and cr...

Re: ZM errors in log

This is kinda what I figured. So I need to configure something which would recognize this condition based on the log entries (I'm leaning towards swatch) and bounce the cameras (I can cycle power to the cameras via CLI). I dont know why the cameras will hang like this sometimes. It seems like they g...

Re: ZM errors in log

I dont think the system is anywhere near the edge. The webmin dashboard generally shows less than 50% CPU (even when Im streaming some video and using webmin etc), and a/o couple seconds ago it showed "CPU load averages: 2.37 (1 min) 2.22 (5 mins) 2.29 (15 mins)" In the log snip that I pasted, looki...

Re: Trouble shooting email notification

apt install libnet-smtp-server-perl Not sure of what your machine is doing beyond ZM, but having a full-fledged SMTP host installed on it is fairly high risk if you do not know how to properly secure it. Something like ssmtp can be much safer since it has no functionality beyond sending messages, a...

The fix is to use TCP instead of UDP. There is a dropdown on the FFmpeg source page for this.
To clarify...I think you mean to use "RTP/RTSP" option instead of "RTP/Unicast" or "RTP/Multicast", correct?

ZM errors in log

Ubuntu 16.04, ZM 1.30.0 Once in a while, something goes awry with one of my monitors. I will see in the logs: Jul 17 02:44:01 signal-security zmdc[14770]: WAR ['zmc -m 10' has not stopped at 18/07/17 02:44:01. Axis camera vulnerabilities

From the latest SANS Newsbites: Vulnerabilities in Axis Cameras (June 18, 2018) Security flaws in Axis Internet-connected video cameras could be exploited to gain remote control of vulnerable devices and use them to spy on users, take control of the camera, or make it part of a botnet. In all, seven...

ffmpeg version

Both of my ZMs are running 1.30.0 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. One is setup as a desktop, the other as a server. Both are running ffmpeg version 2.8.14 I notice that the most recent version of ffmpeg is all the way up to 4.0. I guess somehow dpkg is not updating ffmpeg? Should it be? Does ZM manage the ffmp...
