Re: Ungraceful shutdown SQL needs rebuilt

I recently had a 1.32 (older, yes) db get corrupted after a power loss. I resolved it by restoring the db from scratch. I have had the power drop on 1.30.4 multiple times without one db corruption. I'd say some attention should be paid to any changes that might have made the DB less resilient to pow...

Re: Unable to open input rtsp://admin:xxxx@10.15.67.148:554/realmonitor?channel=0&stream=0.sdp due to: Invalid data

Try source type: libvlc. To install libvlc:
I think it is apt-get install libvlc-dev libvlccore-dev vlc

But possibly omitting vlc. Just try not to pull in X if its not required.

Restart zoneminder service after installing.

https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Finding_Camera_Stream_Paths Either the path is wrong, or the camera is incompatible w/ZM. You can try different source methods (ffmpeg, vlc, remote, file, etc). As an example, if the camera can upload images to an FTP server, then you can use source: file and host the FTP...

Re: Buttons doesn't work

Buttons not working is in my experience either due to malformed install (apache config), or web browser incompatibility.

Install using Bhunge's guides on https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Contents (debian / ubuntu guides - not the official ones)

Secondary drives must be compatible filesystem (FAT32 won't work).

Re: Zoneminder not starting

For a beginner, it's easiest to start with a fresh OS. You might have mixed versions of some dependency, with the added repos, and that could complicate things.

Re: Zoneminder not starting

What do you mean by: Then add the old db back into mysql/mariadb and # zmupdate.pl to get the db to 1.34? At any time in your old ZM you can make a backup with mysqldump. For more details on backup and restore see https://wiki.zoneminder.com/MySQL, See the link in the backup/restore tip. If you hav...

Re: Opinions on my crusty old laptop please

A core2duo should be able to handle 2-3 cameras. If you find performance slowing, try lowering resolution or FPS of cameras on their configuration webpage (don't set max FPS on ZM).

2-3 at 720p will be no problem. 2-3 at 4K will be impossible.

Re: install on raspberry 4 buster

If you are not comfortable with changing /etc/apt/sources.list, you should probably stick with 1.32.3 in the official Raspbian repos. More advanced users can try changing from raspbian to debian repos which have more up to date ARM packages for the RPI than the Raspbian repos. Note that I haven't ac...

DB connection refused usually means Mysql is not running (or bad password).

Code: Select all

service mysql start
