Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Hello all,

after a long time I have some day or two to try a fresh installation of Zoneminder. Are there any news on the "native" video support for Zoneminder on Debian?

Best regards!

Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Here's a solution: https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=24686&p=96024#p94566 Works for me. Strictly speaking, it doesnt record as video instead of jpegs, but it does convert the recorded jpegs to avi and then you can delete the jpegs. Hi! Thanks a lot for pointing this out. I'...

Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Still getting the following issue: Error occurred when writing output file header to ... video.mp4: Invalid argument I'm using iconnor's h264 ppa on Ubuntu 16.04. I have no clue why it's not working. I'm using video passthrough without audio. Perhaps anybody has an idea? Ah - by the way. Sorry - thi...

Re: Upgrade

Hello,

is 1.30 available for Debian Jessie somewhere? I think the iconnor PPA works only with Ubuntu, doesn't it?

Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Hi Steve,

just to give a quick update: unfortunately on a fresh system I ran into same issues, so I'm still sticking to using JPGs.

Any news on the 1.30 front and whether it will contain video storage instead of jpg?

Cheers!

Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Hi Steve, thanks a lot for your effort and replies. I have to give up for now due to time constraints and my job. Nevertheless I hope this helps you guys in development and I learned also a lot. If I find the time before things are integrated I'll give it another try, but for now I'll stick to the w...

Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Alternative question: is it possible to convert all events older than 1 hour automatically to video files and delete the jpegs? Is there a chance to have the events then still viewable from the UI? That could be a workaround (though still temporary and unsatisfying due to even higher resource consum...

Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Okay - I moved from Ubuntu 16.04 to Debian Jessie to see what it will look like there and assuming it might work there more stable, but no luck :-( # ./do_debian_package.sh `lsb_release -a 2>/dev/null | grep Codename | awk '{print $2}'` `date +%Y%m%d`01 local feature-h264-videostorage M distros/ubun...

Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

When choosing encoding instead of passthrough, it says in the logs: 2016-04-27 11:59:18.563791 zma_m2 9697 ERR ZoneMinder was not compiled with the X264 MP4 video writer, check dependencies (x264 and mp4v2) zm_event.cpp 195 Any clue how to get that working? Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Yup - ffmpeg is installed and the path is set correctly. And there is no parameter for ffmpeg defined on the web ui (so I don't get the meaning of ffmpeg option 0 '' part).

Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Okay - unfortunately it's not yet working. I don't see a picture of the cameras in monitor mode (just a symbol of broken image) and the logs report errors like these: 2016-04-27 11:20:31.971146 zmc_m2 4861 FAT Error occurred when writing output file header to events/2/16/04/27/11/20/01/7-video.mp4: ...

Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Thanks a lot, Steve! Indeed it's necessary to execute the MariaDB install commands (the files are present in /usr/share/zoneminder) though the package wasn't properly installed. Subsequently another install of the package works and apt-get / dpkg are happy. Yet, on a fresh Ubuntu 16.04 I'm facing an...

Look at https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Ubuntu_Serv ... e_easy_way where it says PHP timezone. You need to set the timezone for PHP to something like Europe/Berlin.

Re: Record as video instead of jpegs

Ah - that's the fix. Didn't keep the directory and changed in the upper directory path.

Yup - the 1.28 actually also made me wonder a bit. Thanks for your help and the fix. It's currently building. Will let you know what the result is.
