I prefer CentOS myself, but ZM seems to be happiest with Ubuntu. Mainly because that's the distro that sees the most active ZM development, from what I can tell.

That PPA is "bleeding edge" so errors like this are likely to crop up from time to time. I submitted a pull request which fixes this on Oct 15th which has since been merged.

I've been looking for the same thing. I've got 50 cameras to monitor, which when using Zoneminder is impossible due to the high CPU usage (about %25-%35 per stream, which limits me to about 24 or so cameras with my 8 threads). Haha, well, sorry for distracting you then. :) I appreciate the info from the both of you though. It looks like I'm getting video files on my disk now. However, I've noticed that the events are all 10 minutes long, as are the videos themselves. I can't seem to find a setting anywhere to change this ...

I built a deb package from the feature-h264-videostorage branch (commit #5f6d47f by SteveGilvarry) using the `do_debian_package.sh` script. Installed on Ubuntu Server 15.10 64-bit.
