Re: Server Requirements for 52 Hikvision IP cameras

it's not just the quantity of cameras... the resolution and bit depth (colour or B&W) of the cameras, and the number and area of zones on each camera are also important. with two Hikvision 1920*1080 IP colour feeds and 4 alarm zones I see a load average of 1.7 to 2.4 when not recording on a sing...

Re: Reolink or Amcrest or Hikvision?

I have a Hikvision DS-2CD2F42FWD-IWS and run it at 1920*1080 with zm1.29 , it will do 2688*1520, but as always the tradeoff between resolution and storage space, and I don;t have a 4k display to be able to look at it in full res...

Re: ZM 1.29.0 My Opinion review bugs quirks.

I'm not suggesting using a VM for production, I'm suggesting using a VM for gaining familiarity.

maybe its just my grizzled years, but I expect to reinstall/reconfigure at least twice when installing from publicly available install documentation before putting into production.

Re: ZM 1.29.0 My Opinion review bugs quirks.

I suggested using a VM for very specific reasons, perhaps you missed them. using a VM means that the boot is faster than on bare metal, the hardware is abstracted, and you can use snapshots to save the VM state at critical points, all of these can make an install simpler, which while you are learnin...

Re: ZM 1.29.0 My Opinion review bugs quirks.

Please do not suggest using a Desktop OS to install on. As soon as you go GUI, you add an additional layer of complexity, and you're "stealing" CPU cycles for the GUI IMHO, once the initial OS install has been completed, all further config should be done in a SSH session. Perhaps it would ...

events deleted from web gui take longer than expected to be deleted from filesystem

1.2.9 on a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04

RUN_AUDIT is ticked
AUDIT_CHECK_INTERVAL is set to 900

I haven't timed it, but it looks more like 15 hours before events are deleted from disk rather than 15 minutes

Have I misunderstood the documentation ?

Cheers

Re: Zoneminder plugin for Kodi/XBMC

I'm happy to report it works perfectly over plain HTTPS :-)

kodibuntu being based on Ubuntu 14.04 only has python 2.7.6 which does not have support for SNI, hence my initial problem...

Thanks for pushing me in the right direction!

Re: Zoneminder plugin for Kodi/XBMC

oh, I think I know what the problem might be I run HAProxy to terminate all HTTPS traffic, and as I have more HTTPS hosts than IP addresses, I use SNI in HAProxy, and I wonder if that is the problem. I will configure another HAProxy front end on a high port, test over HTTPS on that port (presuming I...

Re: Zoneminder plugin for Kodi/XBMC

Good question about resolving the zm host from the kodi box, yes, I can resolve the zm server from the kodi box :-) I enabled kodi debug and captured as per log fragment http://pastebin.com/YyGMtn42 and saw the 404 following the page request on line 13 Then I enabled HTTP on the zm server, changed t...

Re: Zoneminder plugin for Kodi/XBMC

I'm not seeing anything like that, the log fragment above is repeated each time I try and launch the addon. the settings.xml current looks like the below, with the username, password and server values replaced with dummy data <settings> <setting id="auth" value="true" /> <setting...

Re: basic install working :-) now "tuning"

The Buffers tab seems to be exactly what I was after.

I increased the Image Buffer size to 200, the Pre Event Image count to 100, the Post event Image count to 125 and the alarm Frame count to 2

Thanks!
