Diagnostic images are partially not stored
I tried to enable the diagnostic images in order to fine-tune the motion detection. So, I followed http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/FAQ#Diagnostic_Images and enabled Options->Logging->RECORD_DIAG_IMAGES . I do (!) find the current diagnostic images diag-r.jpg and diag-d.jpg at the top level ...

Re: Scale down video prior to motion detection
Yes, we tried to reduce frame rate but without luck. Normally, a person just looks into the camera for around one second. In order to not overwhelm the CPU we had to reduce frame rate to something like 3fps, but then the chances are very low to get a "good" picture (i.e. from an angle that...

Re: Scale down video prior to motion detection
Our camera is a LevelOne FCS-5043. Why? The camera supports to independent streams, but using both streams - one at high resolution the other at low resolution - is of no help, because the streams are unsychronized. The camera seems to be too weak to actually provide two stream in real time. So this...

Scale down video prior to motion detection
Hello, our camera provides a 1080p stream and we want to capture/record at the same resolution because otherwise we cannot identify the persons properly. (We tried lower resolutions, but even at 720p the resolution is too bad.) Unfortunately, motions detection at 1080p overwhelms our CPU. But we als...

Thanks, yes, this is acceptable and this is the solution I use now.

Use camera source for motion detection but without recording
We have to cameras A and B. Camera A actually shows the perspective we want. But we cannot use camera A for motion detection, because there is to much noise (unrelated motion) in the background. Camera A operates in mode "nodect" and is linked to camera B as its trigger. Camera B is a bird...

Efficient motion detection by means of B2 frame?
Our cameras have the capability to embed a B2 frame into the RTP stream in order to signal if the camera detects motion. This way we could offload the motion detection from Zoneminder to the cameras. Can Zoneminder evaluate the B2 and only record the stream if the camera signals a motion?
