Re: possibility of making a light sensor to put in the mailbox that will make an alarm?

how possible is it to make a light sensor ,,, it would have to be solar powered, or maybe a a rechargeable battery would last long enough.. Is there a reason why it has to be a light sensor? Surely the simplest answer to doing it this way is to fit a microswitch, or magnet and reed switch pair (thi...

Re: Foscam G2 IP Cameras

Though you appear sorted, to answer your question "What is zmc?" -- it's the bit of Zoneminder that connects to a camera, and handles all the RTSP/HTTP or other (/dev/video local devices) acquisition of pictures. (c = capture). zma then analyses those pictures and decides what's worth keeping. You s...

Re: Not working with new IPEYE camera

@bbunge -- good tips, but it worries me that the CAMERA is giving a 500 "Internal Server Error" HTML response -- this doesn't seem to stack up with the ZM system being out of memory, or set for wrong resolution. These usually result in "it doesn't work" reports, but with indigestion at the ZM system...

Re: Not working with new IPEYE camera

> 500, text is 'Internal Server Error'] If this response is coming from the camera's web server, then it sounds like it's not configured at all, or just utterly broken. 5XX codes are "permanent errors", meaning "that didn't work, go away, don't ask again". The question is, outside of Zoneminder, doe...

I think after 12 years, if they haven't solved it by now, they'll have given up.

Re: How to add Pi Camera Module?

Video does not work on a Pi I get you that you mean that Zoneminder does not support video directly from the hardware camera, rather than literally as written :) I don't know if this would work in practice, but, there are streamer programs which will take /dev/video0 (from the hardware camera, from...

Re: ZoneMinder makes Raspberry super slow

Task Manager don’t show any high cpu usage. and yet your Raspberry PI becomes super slow? Is there any possibility that you have managed to warm the processor up to the point where throttling occurs (the newer 3B/4 PIs run a lot hotter than the old ones, and use thermal management to save themselve...

Re: Two-way audio support

I’m not a lawyer I think that's the only accurate bit of your last sentence. It depends what country you are in, and whether "the public" could be recorded by your "bugging device", and also whether it is considered OK to record people's conversations without their consent or knowledge -- even in y...

Re: Screen in monitoring not complete

I'm glad you've got something working, but that information is so at odds with normality, that something must still be wrong :)

To have a camera sending 1920x1080 and ZM set for 640x360 capture, and the picture correctly filling the view is just weird. By a factor of three, in both directions.

Re: Screen in monitoring not complete

It does sound like your resolutions or video format are not set correctly: If the image is repeated across, the camera is sending a narrower image than ZM (or FFMPEG) is expecting. Then having run out of data due to wasting data (to make a wide image, un-necessarily), it's got nothing to fill the bo...

Re: Zoneminder and poe cctv setup

Is there a way to find my CCTV device IP address accurately if I don't have a Reolink client? Other than pro-actively poking it, as you are doing with nmap (it's not clear, did nmap actually find an extra device on 192.168.x.x??) you could :- 1) Find documentation for the camera that reveals a defa...

Re: Need help configuring ZM so I can save the video in the way I want

Storing 1 fps footage of a monitor all the time (24/7) During an alarm, saving full 30fps footage I think this will be difficult because, as I understand it, the proper way to set the frame rate is to do it in camera, not in ZM. Possibly one way round it, if your camera supports this, is to set up ...

Re: Capture frames and live video - Debian stretch

If the file exists, but parts of ZM think it doesn't exist, did you get caught out by the default storage options, which have changed over ZoneMinder versions? Have a search on the forum for the phrase "deep storage" -- it varies the way the file path is created (the old system was :- "Camera/YY/MM/...

Re: 1.32.3 - Revotech cameras rebooting every few minutes.

Thanks for posting that, it may help someone else chip in. A load of 13+ with next to nothing running looks very odd to me. If nothing is accessing the camera (as you say, ZM is shut down/stopped), why is it so busy? What is it doing to itself? It feels like there's something wrong with the camera, ...

Re: 1.32.3 - Revotech cameras rebooting every few minutes.

Managed to log on via telnet (ipc71a default password for root) and load is ~17 but I guess this might be normal for embedded linux. I don't know the specifics of your camera, but -- I assume it has a single processor core, which mean a load of 1.0 is "fully busy" and 17 is therefore "working its b...
