Re: Extremely Poor Performance...

Others with more experience might have better suggestions, but here are my suggestions. Separate /var onto a separate partition from /. A separate physical drive or RAID array is even better. If I understand what you said about your setup, you can just set all the drives up in that server as RAID 5 ...

Re: Help to Install ZoneMinder 1.25.x - Ubuntu 12.10

I'm lost! First, DON'T PANIC! Ok, seriously though, it's easier than you think. How about starting here: http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Ubuntu_Server_12.04_64-bit_with_Zoneminder_1.25.0_the_easy_way The instructions are actually the same regardless of ubuntu 32/64bit or 12.10 or 1...

Re: ZoneMinder 1.25.0 extremely slow to log in et al

Red means the camera isn't currently connected, but ZM is tyring to connect to it. If you haven't already you should click the motdect and set it to NONE. This actually places that monitor offline in ZM and it won't waste time trying to connect to it. Ok, now what resolution are you using on the one...

Re: Looking for recommendation for inexpensive camera for ZM

Grandstream GXV3611 HD. Great cameras. POE. Easy to use with ZM. HD resolution that you mentioned. Be warned that the resolution you mentioned will take a lot of HD to store. It's great if you have the space, but most of mine just run at 640x480 for speed and HD space. Grandstream has a demo feed on...

Re: Zoneminder stops at 12 monitors.

You mentioned that the 13th doesn't "show", but does it record? Can you review events from it? It could be that your client machine just isn't able to view that many monitors at the same time, even though your server can process them. If you're using all IP cameras, you can always create a...

Re: ZoneMinder 1.25.0 extremely slow to log in et al

Are you using analog or IP cameras? What modes are you using? (record, mocord, motion, monitor) I had a problem with running slowly on my fist test box. It was an older P4 PC with only a 5400rpm HD. Once I moved to a machine with the same processor and same RAM, but two 7200 HDs (one for / and one f...

Re: Zoneminder keeps stopping

The obvious question - and you've probably checked but don't mention - is has the mysql server gone away? Are there any issues with the tables, does it crash and restart - what are its logs? How do you restart zoneminder when it dies? Not something I've found BTW, although I do recall many years ag...

Zoneminder keeps stopping

Ubuntu Server 64bit 12.04.1 LTS, Dell Power Edge Dual Xeon with 16GB of RAM. HD is separated into 200GB for / and 2TB for /var. I have 5 servers setup this way. Each is recording mjpeg video from 20 Sony snc-ds60 and snc-ds10 ip cams at 640x480 5-10fps depending on location. This configuration runs ...
