Extremely Slow Web Interface

I've had this problem for awhile but it seems to be getting worse. Some days the web UI works fine, super speedy and responsive as I'd expect from a device on the lan. Other times it takes 30-120 seconds for it to respond. I cannot figure out why. I didn't find anything on the forums here in a searc...

Re: Can a Lenovo ThinkServer TS140 run a 14+ camera system?

You've probably purchased something by now, but if not, hopefully this helps. I run 7 cameras with 24/7 recording and motion detection on the following old server hardware: RACKABLE 2U SERVER WITH INTEL S5000PSL QUAD CORE XEON L5420 2 x 2.5GHZ 16GB MEM. Server load is generally between 2.75-3.5, rar...

Re: Web UI dies shortly after startup

Thanks for all of your suggestions, linuxsense. Turns out it was Firefox on the client PC being stupid. I discovered a laptop in the house was working with the UI just fine. Closed and restarted Firefox on the problem PC and it's been working fine since. I must have rebooted the server 3x and restar...

Re: Web UI dies shortly after startup

I have zm and apache2 both running as www-data, and www-data is in the video group. If the individual cam windows didn't work this would strike me as a connection/firewall issue the way I'm not able to reach the webui. One reason this has me very perplexed.

Re: Web UI dies shortly after startup

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS. The install has been working fine for quite some time up until now. Technically, the cameras still work great, it's just the webui that's down. :D I don't see anything useful in the Apache error log, just a bunch of these from the individual cam windows requesting info:...

Web UI dies shortly after startup

I'm a little perplexed. This problem started a few days ago. Basically the web UI just dies -- any attempts to contact the main page result in continual circling loading attempts and trying to click a link like Logs just opens a blank page. Other web-based interfaces on the same machine continue to ...

Yipes! Drives -- would have never thought of a hard drive as a potential limiter, but that's a very good point. Thanks for sharing that.

Re: MOCORD not breaking video into segments

Thanks! Found that setting in the Config section. I switched it to Time and re-started, so hopefully this issue won't repeat.

I did also run an auto-repair on the database. Everything reported OK, so I'm guessing the tables were fine.

Re: MOCORD not breaking video into segments

Thanks for the segment length suggestion. I checked the Misc tab and my section lengths are all set to 600 seconds, not idle.

So far the problem has not re-occurred since I restarted ZM. If it does, I will try to database repair suggestion from bb99.

MOCORD not breaking video into segments

I have recently started encountering this odd problem. All of my cameras are set to mocord and, historically, the video for each is broken into ~600 second segments. On a couple of cameras recently, however, it seems it is getting stuck and continues to record to one giant video. You can see from th...

Re: What makes an IP camera ZM compatible?

Does ZM do any actual processing if stuff like motion detection is turned off, or is it required just to process the images as they come in? I have dual quad-core Xeon processors with 16gb of ram in the machine currently. Load with 8 analog cameras at 640x480 usually runs around .6. I'm thinking of ...

What makes an IP camera ZM compatible?

So tonight one of my neighbors demo'ed his 1080p HD IP security camera setup and wow, those were some nice videos, especially compared to the stuff I'm getting with my 650TVL analog cameras on Bluecherry cards. I'm thinking about replacing a couple of the analog cameras with IP HD models, but I'm no...

Ubuntu Upgrade issue - how to remove/reinstall ZM?

Hi Everyone, I upgraded the server my ZoneMinder install runs on last night from Ubuntu 11.10 (?) to 12.04. The upgrade went fine, but ZM refuses to start now, with this error: /opt/zm/bin/zmfix: error while loading shared libraries: libmysqlclient.so.16: cannot open shared object file: No such file...

Re: CPU/Processor selection and Camera scaling Guide (draft)

Well, I finally got most of my setup up and running and I was rather surprised with the results. I was expecting more load on the CPUs than I have encountered so far. Hardware: 1 Rackable 2U half-depth chassis with 2x Intel Xeon L5420 (2.50GHz) quad-core processors (~5,000 bogomips each) 16GB ram 1 ...

Suggestions for discrete door camera?

Hi All, I need some suggestions for a small and discrete camera to place at our front door where visitors' faces would be visible. I have a regular dome camera mounted about 5' above the door, but I use it to gain a clear view of that side of the front yard. Pointing it down doesn't give much of a g...
