zombie process

On the wiki, in at least a couple of pages such as "Ubuntu Server 12.04 64-bit with Zoneminder 1.25.0 the easy way", there is a suggestion to add 'sleep 15' just above 'zmfix -a' to the file /etc/init.d/zoneminder ... Unless I'm adding it in the wrong place, this causes a zombie process on my system...

Re: No more pictures

Ah, you have a capture card in there. Did that involve the installation of drivers, or does ZM support it without drivers? It makes sense living where you live to use PAL, but is there any chance the cams are NTSC? It just that it seems something is not syncing up.. What happens if you delete the va...

Re: No more pictures

If you open a camera directly in a browser there's no issues?

Pick a camera and post the name and model and the setup for it in the ZM console...

Re: No more pictures

I hate to say it, but its sometimes easier to reinstall the OS and zoneminder from scratch rather than try to save it. Simply removing and reinstalling hasnt worked for me because so much is left behind when using the remove command. Of course, there could be hardware issues as well. Running a few p...

Re: Can zoneminder be set up as a vpn server?

I have zoneminder installed on Ubuntu, which can be set up to do many things, including vpns. Openvpn is relatively easy to set up, and requires only 1 port open in the router/firewall. Openvpn is also nice in that there are clients for Windows and most other OSes. Many routers/firewalls have a buil...

Re: Can anyone recommend a PoE network camera?

Many cameras can do motion detection and save files to a network share, but if you do it that way there's no need to use zoneminder.

I have zoneminder doing the detection.

By the way, the D-Link MCS-6111 is an indoor cam...

Re: No more pictures

My ZM system was recently turned off rather than shutdown properly, and everything stopped working. I found I had to reset the mysql tables to get it going again. I assume they became corrupted. Theres a simple command to do this: sudo mysql -u root -p < /usr/share/zoneminder/db/zm_create.sql Howeve...

Re: Camera FPS

I recenty discovered something about zoneminder v1.24.4. I was having problems with 3 cameras where I would set the FPS in the zoneminder console, and I would also set a smaller area to monitor in the Zone section, and suddenly some of the cams that had been working fine would go red in the console....

Re: Can anyone recommend a PoE network camera?

There are many. Axis makes some very nice (and expensive) models like the P3344, which is an outdoor cam with a built in heater and has excellent low-light ability. But be careful - Axis also makes cams that arent very good, like the M3011. I recently got a D-Link MCS-6111 that is POE and has a grea...
