Re: Playback quality is quite poor. Any solution to this?

Is there by chance another method to streaming RTSP, or must one use ffmpeg? Is "remote" not applicable for RTSP?

For kicks I'll switch it to mjpg and see what happens... even though I'd love nothing more than to avoid using mjpg on the inbound stream to the server...

Re: Playback quality is quite poor. Any solution to this?

Right now ZoneMinder is not my primary setup. I'm testing it on a spare server I have to see how things go. I haven't ever seen this type of feedback before, whether streaming live through VLC (h264 rtsp) or through mjpg with the Linux software Motion. As a result I find it super hard to believe tha...

Playback quality is quite poor. Any solution to this?

Here's a short screencast of what I'm seeing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHgCa7GTRe4&feature=youtu.be Any idea what else I can do? I set JPG quality to the highest possible and adjusted the bandwidth to be high. I'm on a gigabit LAN. I'm not really sure what else I can adjust here. Camera is...

Re: Cannot seem to play back events.

I decided to start from a clean slate I did a remove --purge zoneminder* then reinstalled it. Once done, I re-attached the one outdoor camera I have on the deck. By doing this, I set everything back to defaults, including the storage path for the events I was tweaking earlier on. I wanted to have ZM...

Re: Please help connect to he6802sid-w Heivision Cam

Did you bump up your shared memory? I'm not sure exactly where the threshold exists in terms of when it's appropriate to boost your shared memory for the resolution at hand, but I just installed an outdoor cam (1280x800) and I had to boost it quite a bit. I ended up setting it pretty high to 3GB in ...

Re: Cannot seem to play back events.

I read on the forum somewhere that ZoneMinder doesn't do well when saving to other partitions. I set it back to /usr/share/zoneminder/events (Ubuntu 12.04), but nothing changed. Everything else seems normal, but I have no playback. Just a gray box. Any idea?? I'd really like to get this working. :(

Cannot seem to play back events.

Hi there. If I click on an event to play it back, I just get a gray screen... no error or anything, just simply a gray seen... nothing else seems to be out of whack. Anybody have any ideas? The directory ZM is saying to is owned by 777 rights for testing. Thanks for any ideas! EDIT - some screenshot...

Re: Vivotek IP8332... black screen?

Well, we got it working thanks to some help in the ZoneMinder IRC channel. Turns out you can bump the shmall and shmmax memory far more than I thought. I ended up kicking it to 3 gigs (3221225472 bytes) and suddenly everything worked. I had expected to, MAYBE, double the original amount, but at 1280...

Re: Vivotek IP8332... black screen?

If I follow those exact directions, my camera turns up with a red source. The only way I can get it to turn yellow is using RTSP... but then I get a black screen for the active feed. Any chance you can elaborate on that long IRC message?   EDIT - Removed all cameras from ...

Re: Vivotek IP8332... black screen?

I can, however it's a rather poor feed. It's so poor I'm not sure I'd even recognize anybody if they were caught on camera.

I was using:

rtsp://192.168.1.155:554/live.sdp

Vivotek IP8332... black screen?

I have an IP8332 I'm trying to get rolling with ZoneMinder, but I'm not having any luck. If I use the /live.sdp (or whatever that option is) for the feed, it finally comes off of a red source and the source turns yellow, which is a step in the right direction. Problem is, the feed is completely blac...

Enabling PTZ Functionality...

Hi there. I have a Foscam FI8918W camera. I have installed ZoneMinder 1.25 on Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit. Everything is good to go and the camera is configured. I enabled the checkbox under Options - System - Opt_Control. I also went into the Control tab of the camera and made sure it was enabled. I also f...

Re: What dictates event scores?

So if I'm running on "record" mode, I won't see scores? Only if I'm on modetect or morecord?

Also, I can't seem to find the setting where once motion record is in session, how long that event records for... any idea?

What dictates event scores?

I'm trying to figure out what dictates event scores. I noticed some events had a higher score. When I checked, there seemed to be more movement in those events. On a hunch, I went out and walked in front of the camera several times. Sure enough, the score for that particular event was 0/0. So what's...
