Re: How best to split modect processes across multiple serve

It has been a long time since this was posted, but clustering zone minder is of ongoing interest to me. One of the bad things about using MySQL rather than PostgreSQL is table locking, but I assume that DB clustering issues can be solved using standard MySQL scaling techniques and a remote database....

update

Fedora Core recognizes the serveraid card correctly. Unfortunately the install gets part way through and errors out. I can't get the Mandrake liveCD to recognize it. The Gentoo liveCD and Remo install both do, but there are issues with each.

Ross, I was incomplete in my question, I'm sorry - the module does show up with modprobe, the problem is that I wanted to install on a machine with a serveraid card, using the serveraid attached drives as my / partition (Raid 5, fancy, though affordable with effectively free 9gig drives and a $20 Se...

ServeRAID support

How difficult would it be to update the liveCD so it has ips.o built-in for support of IBM ServeRAID configurations? Without it hardDrake doesn't recognize devices attached to an IBM ServeRAID controller.

fixed - bad blocks

After much futzing it became apparent that this was a hardware problem with the /var partition. As this is mounted as /dev/hda6, what I needed to do was fsck it in a fairly agressive way to get the blocks mapped out and any thus broken files remapped. Fortunately nothing critical seems to have been ...

Not that I'm aware of. I didn't change any of the database permissions and I tried rebooting which in theory should have released any rogue applications. There's nothing much in the log files either... It is possible the machine was compromised by someone mischevious, but there are none of the usual...

Table 'Monitors' is read only

Odd error. I'm logged in as admin. It worked fine for quite some time. I haven't spent a lot of time debugging, but if there's an easy answer it would save me time. I can't change the state of Zone minder (from stopped to start for example) or change the funciton of the cameras because "Table '...

Could you post LiveCD Readme, please?

I very foolishly installed LiveCD without changing the password to something I could remember. The problem is that my wee box doesn't have an internal CD drive, so to read the CD takes some wiring acrobatics and dangling components. I've now booted to the login prompt... but can't get past it.. I re...

Re: 25 cameras

Jason, I'm sure more savvy users could give you better answers, but here's a few hints: 1) the 30 day requirement for 25 cameras at 10fps could be immense, exabytes, if you're recording constantly at full resolution with a low compression setting (on the order of 64 terabytes). If they're running VC...

Re: hauppauge 4 input card

A bit more experimentation: I can get clean grabs with #xawtv -noxv -c /dev/video1, though the live display doesn't look good. Is the -noxv option applicable to the way zoneminder talks to the interface cards? Is there a way to implement it (or it's equivalent, if indeed, it is relevant)? I updated ...

Re: hauppauge 4 input card

I switched from RH to the mandrake liveCD, still no inputs on the Hauppauge cards. I'm asking around (v4l mailing list, Hauppauge tech support), viz: I have a freshly installed (zoneminder liveCD) and freshly updated Mandrake 9.2 install on a Compaq EN SFF PII-400. I have two Hauppauge ImpactVCB 644...

uninitialized value in numeric gt (>) at zmfilter.pl line 22

I've installed the liveCD, it's starting to come together on my box. No luck yet on the second Hauppauge card, and there seem to be some persission issues, which are probably the root cause of this, but just in case it's a seperate issue, my zmfilter.log is yielding: Scanning for events since id -1 ...
