My /var/log/zm directory is also empty, but there are a number of log files located in /tmp.

Make sure the size settings for that monitor in ZM match the size that the camera is generating.

I had a black screen when the image generated was 640x480 but the monitor in ZM was set to 320x240. Once I got the size set the same, the image appeared.
