Can an Athlon 700mhz w/ 512mb ram handle motion detection on a 4cam system (bt878 chip capture card, color, 352x288)?
Whats the best modect preset to use on this case (Fast/Best)?

hey jan thanks for this nice guide. I've already used it a couple times and it's by far the easiest way to set up a zm system in less than 20 minutes. Reading this guide using lynx is the worst part! :P And of course ... Debian - should you build any security system using other distro than that? I s...

which is better: MAX FPS or SKIP FRAMES?
How many FPS should I set my camera to store events at? I mean, what is the minimum rate to have a good quality viewable event? My cameras are currently running at 5 fps each ... this takes lots of space to store events. And what is the better way to limit this: to set MAX FPS or to SKIP EVERY x FRA...

FFmpeg settings for xvid video encoding
I've compiled xvid-1.1.0 and enabled it while compiling ffmpeg (latest cvs), but does anyone know how to make it work with zoneminder?
My 1.22 ZM generates mpegs and avi ok, usually a 8MB avi or mpg (avi slight bigger in size) for a 300sec (5min) event.
thanks for any help

I have just replicated this situation and it's exactly as described. BTW, something else happens in this scenario: Changing run state to a 'saved state' while monitors are in a previously disabled state won't enable them - even when the states table is corrected the way proposed. The other way aroun...
