For me, this was a missing "cache" folder in "/var/cache/zoneminder"

Not sure if same issue, I'm using Docker and not sure if unique to that. But may be along the same lines

Odd, is it to do with the way Zoneminder forms the MP4 file. Thanks for the replies, CPU was at the high end when all cameras running, turned one off for the past week and everything ran OK.

Now moved the drives into my old gaming machine, 8 core i7 etc, so should be able to handle what I have now and future plans for more cameras.
