In your monitor setup screen under "buffers" set the pre event and post event to larger numbers. If you record at 5 frames per second then 20=2 seconds at 30 fps 60=2 seconds etc.

My understanding of memory management is that if you are using MMap then you would not want to set shmmax or shmall. It is one or the other. Easy to check, simply comment out the settings and reboot.

You might want to consider a second router to handle the cameras. This would unburden the main ( internet ) router. Just set cameras and second router to any freq not used by the main router and it will end the conflict. Cameras tend to be bandwidth hogs

A possible solution might be to install Motion on the "remote" computer. This would provide a simple webcam server that can be easily accessed by Zoneminder.

linked monitors are where one camera will trip another.
Useful in situations of overlapping camera coverage to get a second angle or to record a second area that has not yet enough movement to trigger motion detection

1) use box # 1 to monitor all ip cams on box#2.

If not possible

2 ) Use box # 1 to monitor box#2. It is set up as any remote ip camera would be on box #1.
this will give you all cameras on one interface.

Shmall and Shmmax is not used with mmap. System defaults should be fine. I have found that mmap is less hassel to deal with and about bulletproof as a memory managment for zoneminder. It does require installing sys-mmap (google it ) on your system

On a single processor a load of 1.23 is equal to 123%. On a dual processor it would be 61.5%. Not usually a problem if it is peaking there, but could cause trouble if it is always at this point. Slow down the frame rate and reduce image size are the usual fixes.

Just set yur remote machines up as you normally would and then with the "master" machine access them as if they were remote ip cameras. It raises the work load on the remote systems a little but with resonable resolution levels and frame rates it will work well.

Try localhost and see what comes up. It does not show up in the programs because it is running as a service. If you followed all the guide then it boots with the machine. "localhost" or "your ip " in your browser will bring up the console
