Warning, overriding installed ./zm.conf file with local copy

I seem to be hitting an error for reasons I don't fully understand. There are a couple of posts here which mention the error, but they have not helped me to clear it up. I have set up ZM on Debian a few times, and have a working 1.23.3 - so I'm not totally new at this. My issues come from compiling ...

Thanks. I've unchecked the fast delete option as it has to be worth a try. I'm not archiving anything so I don't understand the sudden change in ZM not deleting the events.

I need to be sure what is actually happening on the box, so I'll keep a closer eye on it this week.

Filling disc - but only at 6%?

My ZM 1.23.3 has been a very good servant to me. For over a year it's been as solid as a rock. Just recently it's started to do something a little weird. Despite having a 'purge when full' filter running set to 60%, it's now filling a disc on a weekly basis - almost as if the purge is clearing the t...

Stills always showing analyse

Here is the scenario. Playback events and I see what I want. I switch to stills and find the frame I want in the thumbnails. All good so far. Click on the thumbnail and no matter what I do, I always get the red outlined analyse image up for that frame - not a clean frame of the image. I don't want i...

Nope, not a webcam. I'm using the defacto BT card with all 4 inputs in use. This is driving me crazy. I don't reboot the box that often, but I have to remember to change these settings across 4 cameras when I do. I discovered it when we needed to take some footage off the machine only to find that i...

Default Debian apt-get AFAIR.

Can I stop it from 'resetting' or start?

To follow this up, I still get this problem when I restart the box ZM is hosted on. The 'settings' fields loose their normal settings and fill with this for Brightness, Contrast, Hue & Color;

Anyone know how to stop it doing this?

Bleaching on reboot

A silly question this. I've gone over bits and pieces of documentation but can't find a fix.

If I reboot the monitor settings change the contrast/brightness and bleach out the image. Can I make the settings persist on reboot?

I must be missing it some place?

I can't speak for Hardy, but 8.10 (Ibex) is pretty flawless for me with these cards. I have two working in one box - I've done nothing magic and I'm quite happy to output anything that would be useful to anyone.

I'm not expert - but this line jumps out to me:

Code: Select all

videoinput: Driver refuses to start streaming: Device or resource busy.
Is something else already using the card because that's how it looks to my untrained eyes.

I have two of them working under ZM (Ubuntu 8.10) with no issues at all (initially had a colour issue but that was solved here). You may need to be a little more persistent?

Sorry - only just spotted this. It has *no* other information on it. It's plain black and just sold as 'ASDA WEBCAM'.

I pulled it off the system because it was a little dull and I have a couple of the BT878 cards working now (thanks to you ;-)).

My sincere thanks to you Cordel. I had an incline to some of those commands but I can't really say I've had to call on them to the point where I understand them. So; if I want to unload the bttv module - which I guess covers the whole BT878 chipset board range more or less, I guess (and please corre...

I'm not entirely sure that I do! Put it like this, a bit of love and hand holding *won't* have me saying 'don't teach me to suck egg's'!!
