Zone installed in my church 2 years ago works great

I installed a 16 camera Zoneminder system in my church 2 years ago and it is still working great. It is a shame that some people will steal from a church but it happens. Just last week we caught a worker vandalizing a vending machine. He tried to move the camera too. We warned him and did not press ...

My Zoneminder is working flawlessly. It busted 2 criminals!

This is an update with some personal experience updates. I installed a 16 camera Zoneminder system at my church in April. Since then it caught 1 criminal member and busted people telling lies. The criminal was busted stealing a cell phone. He denied that he did it until the Police Officer showed him...

Re: PTZ

What's your plan for the PTZ? I've been wondering if I could justify one for my large parking lot. I was thinking it wouldn't be all that helpful unless I had someone watching it full time, but what's your plan, or anyone elses? Do you have it randomly slowly cruise the whole area that it covers? I...

zoneminder update at the church. Works Great!

I just wanted to give an update on my 16 camera Zoneminder install at a local church. It runs 24 hours a day and has not failed. It caught several criminals (church members!) with their hands in the pot and an outside criminal that was trying to mess with the AC units. Theft has stopped after they s...

Excellent Work Zonaboy!

Good Job and Congratulations!

One question: What did Cordel find out of place? The ZMS and the IRQ?

Others experiencing these problems

It seems there are others that experience this too. See this:

Re: Zoneminder is failing me!

I don't really know how to put this into words, but after months of effort I still cannot get ZM to reliably record for me. I've tried the various motion-sensing options and nothing I pick seems to work properly. The gist of the problem is that it simply fails to record events when it should. For e...

Mismatched cameras on a PV-183 16 port capture card

This is a strange problem on a 16 port pv-183 capture card. I have cameras from 2 different manufacturers on ports \dev\video2(0) and \dev\video2(1). These ports start blue-screening and flicking on and off. It seems that the events table gets corrupted/confused when capturing in motion detection mo...

Debian vs. Ubuntu Debian

Lee Sharp wrote:He is on Debian. He can just 'apt-get install zoneminder' right now.

As to your question, I do not know. I use the debs. :)

I tried the Debian Distro. I had problems with it. It works but the Ubuntu Debian teams seem to do a better job of keeping up with updates.

1) ZoneMinder relies on kernel mode drivers to access video streams. Windows video capture is all usermode, or kernel hacks. This means getting the video is the first hurdle. 2) ZoneMinder relies on the LAMP stack. Microsoft is pushing a port of parts of this, but they are not yet fully compatible....

Zoneminder on Debian

I do not know exactly how to fix that problem but I have a suggestion:

Why not load Ubuntu 7.10 and run apt-get install zoneminder? After Zoneminder installs, you will have to take a few more steps to get it going but it would be so much easier.

Re: Anyone ported ZoneMinder to windows XP?

I like the idea of ZONEMINDER but not much of a linux person, i have tried to run linux but 9 times out of 10 my linux install fails or fails after the installation.. (NEWB) so i stick with windows.. I run a DVR system called KGUARD that is real nice but i like what i see with ZM. Anyone know if th...

Crashed? Lost Power? Great tool: phpmyadmin

I was being lazy and attempted to move my UPS during production when I hit the front shutdown switch. Needless to say, I crashed Zoneminder during a busy evening where it was doing its job monitoring the building. There was much activity going on outside. Yes I know..and I can hear you saying "...
